Backstage News On Dean Ambrose Being Added To The WWE Payback Main Event, Possible Heel Turn?

It appears WWE adding Dean Ambrose to the Payback main event with Randy Orton, Roman Reigns and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins was a late decision. Cable TV ads that aired after this week's RAW were still listing a Triple Threat main event without Ambrose.

It's interesting that WWE is putting all of the former Shield members in a main event already as that was first discussed as a potential WrestleMania 32 idea.

On a related note, Sunday's Fatal 4 Way match gives WWE the chance to turn Ambrose and Reigns on Orton. The company is lacking in credible heels but they do have new babyfaces that they could be pushing.

Contract Signing Set for Smackdown

A contract signing for the Fatal 4 Way match at WWE Payback on 5/17 for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship involving Seth Rollins, Randy Orton, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose has been announced for this week's 5/7 WWE Smackdown on Syfy.
This segment will be taped on Tuesday night in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Future WWE Feuds For Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt (SPOILERS)

WWE live events in May are advertising Roman Reigns vs. Kane and Bray Wyatt vs. Ryback. Ryback is the “mystery person” that Wyatt has been talking about in his recent promos.

Opinionated View- Poor Reigns WWE blows his push, he doesn't win the title, he's back to feuding with Big Show, and now he's going to feud with Kane. It gets worse for Wyatt. He had to job to Taker killing any last bit of momentum he still had and not he has to try and carry big useless.

Reaction to Reigns Not Winning the Title

New details are coming out from WrestleMania 31 Week and Brock Lesnar reportedly knew about Seth Rollins winning the WWE World Heavyweight Title when he signed his new contract earlier that week. Lesnar, Paul Heyman and Roman Reigns were working closely together throughout the build-up of the match so Reigns may have known a few days in advance also, according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. It was previously reported that none of the Superstars found out about Rollins winning until WrestleMania had already started. Regarding Reigns not winning the title, many WWE talents have been really defensive of Reigns and there has been some bitterness against the vocal fans who really ended up forcing the change in plans. Even those within WWE who aren't knocking the vocal fans are still being very defensive of Reigns.The internal reaction to Reigns losing is almost the opposite reaction talents had to Batista last year when fans forced plans to change at WrestleMania XXX. The feeling this year was the company spent a year building Reigns up and then the vocal fans put Reigns' big climax in jeopardy, eventually costing him the title and the important moment in his career.

Roman Reigns’ Family Members Reportedly Wanted Him to Quit After WrestleMania

- A new report from the Wrestling Observer claims that some members of Roman Reigns’ family wanted to see him quit WWE after he didn’t win the WWE World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania 31. The site doesn’t mention which family members expressed such desires, but reiterates previous reports that Reigns’ father Sika was furious about the decision to put the title on Seth Rollins and not Reigns.

The site adds that while Reigns’ uncle Afa wasn’t happy with the decision, he wasn’t nearly as upset as Sika. As for Reigns, he reportedly had no issues with the loss and took the decision well.

Seth Rollins Reportedly Found Out About Title Win Late Into Wrestlemania 31

New reports claim that Seth Rollins only found out about his WWE title win late Sunday afternoon. He was told he would cash-in and win the belt and would need to fly to New York for Today in the morning. He would then fly back for RAW the next night.

After Rollins was told, Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar met with Michael Hayes to go over the new finish. While the meeting happened during the segment with The Rock, Ronda Rousey and the Authority, it had been planned out before that.

The Anoa'i Family Reportedly Furious At WrestleMania

Several members of the legendary Anoa'i family were very angry at the finish to the main event of WrestleMania 31 as plans were changed and Roman Reigns did not end up with the WWE World Heavyweight Title.Reigns' father, WWE Legend Sika, was said to be "looking to start a war" he was so upset. One WWE source commented to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter:"Sika forgot this business is not real life, and was legit pissed at the finish and looking to start a war. A lot of the younger (family members) were rallying around Sika, but the other 45 or 50 of them talked some reason."Another person who was around the family during WrestleMania said they were furious, mad and disappointed but not out of control. While the family came for Rikishi's Hall of Fame speech, they came more to see Reigns have his big WrestleMania Moment and win the title.

Update on the Rumored Winner for Reigns vs. Lesnar

PWInsider reports that there is a strong feeling within WWE that Lesnar will retain the title at WrestleMania tonight. The belief is that with Lesnar’s re-signing putting the sports world’s attention on WWE, discussion has been had of changing plans for the match and having Lesnar win.
The concern is that Reigns winning will cause a bigger issue with the fans and that Reigns can have a great match with Lesnar, which would earn him respect with the fans more than winning the belt would.

Speculation on Fan Reaction to Reigns vs. Lesnar at WrestleMania 31

 The current feeling backstage is that Roman Reigns will come out the big babyface at WrestleMania 31. His reactions since the Royal Rumble have gotten better, and there is a feeling that the drama between Brock Lesnar and WWE could end up with Lesnar receiving a similar reaction he got at WrestleMania 20. This is due to WrestleMania weekend being heavily populated by “smart fans”.

Opinionated View- Reigns reaction have gotten better but they are hardly the reaction you would want for a top face. Remember when he won at Fastlane silence.

WWE Responds To Brock Lesnar - Roman Reigns Rumor

As noted earlier, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar was at last Monday's WWE RAW in Nashville, TN, but was not used. Lesnar apparently left before the show was over and was said to have been upset.
This led to some wild rumors being spread online. One particular rumor that was posted on Reddit claimed that Roman Reigns failed a drug test and that Lesnar stormed out because the company would not suspend him and change the planned WrestleMania main event. The rumor has been getting a lot of attention and has even been posted on a couple of websites.
WrestleInce reached out to WWE representatives who denied the rumor, calling it "absolutely false."

Reddit User Claims WWE Wants To “Quiet the Marks” With Fast Lane Main Event (POSSIBLE SPOILERS)

  Reddit user MetsFan4Ever, a verified WWE insider who has broke news in the past, has said that Roman Reigns will win his match with Daniel Bryan at WWE Fast Lane and face Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania. The only reason the Reigns/Bryan match was made, according to MetsFan4Ever, is so WWE can please the “marks” while getting Reigns over. They will stick with their plan regardless of how the fans react because Reigns vs Lesnar is the planned main event of Wrestlemania 31.

 

He also said that WWE knows people will watch Wrestlemania regardless of the card. He said he was told they could book Doink the Clown vs Brock Lesnar and fans would still watch because Wrestlemania is bigger than anyone on the show.

Even though Reigns is going over at Fast Lane, Bryan was picked to get him ready for Wrestlemania. Bryan is considered one of the most physical wrestlers on the roster and can prepare Reigns for a match with Lesnar.

Opinionated View- If Reigns goes over fans will boo. It may not be as bad as it was a the Rumble but they will be upset. And one month working with Bryan will not get Reigns ready. Unless Bryan is working with him 24/7 on his promos he won't be ready.

Original Plans For Daniel Bryan & Roman Reigns At WWE Fast Lane, Update On Reigns Vs. Brock Lesnar

As noted, Daniel Bryan will now face Roman Reigns in the main event of WWE's Fast Lane pay-per-view with the winner facing Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 31 for the WWE World Heavyweight Title. Original plans for Fast Lane had Roman Reigns defeating a top heel, possibly Big Show, and Bryan being used to put Bray Wyatt over to keep him strong for The Undertaker. Regarding booking for Bryan, WWE wanted to put him into a feud with Sheamus for WrestleMania 31 but his opponent was switched to Dolph Ziggler after Bryan reportedly requested the change. It's possible that Bryan vs. Ziggler still happens. For what it's worth, people handling the actual promotion of WrestleMania 31 were still under the impression that Reigns vs. Lesnar will be the main event as of this week and in the promotional material, Reigns is to be the most heavily promoted, followed by Lesnar and John Cena. It's worth adding that WWE has not included Sting in any of the WrestleMania promotional material and since he's all but confirmed for the event, his involvement will be a major selling point so new material should be released soon.
