NXT Stars Backstage at Smackdown

Kevin Owens and Charlotte are backstage at the WWE Smackdown taping today. Both NXT talents were at the Raw taping as well, with Owens of course appearing on screen last night to further his feud with John Cena leading into Elimination Chamber this weekend.

Who is Backstage at Raw?

- Charlotte and Kevin Owens are backstage at Raw. Charlotte worked main roster live events over the weekend, and could work a dark match tonight. Owens is likely there to continue the build to his match with John Cena at Sunday’s Elimination Chamber PPV.

NXT Stars At RAW

 NXT stars Charlotte and Sami Zayn are backstage for tonight' WWE RAW in Montreal, which is Sami's hometown.

Opinionated View- Fingers are crossed if they re-debut on the main roster (Both have worked matches on Raw and Main Event I believe) WWE will use them right. And WWE has done well with Neville but they also have blown it with the Ascension.

NXT News: Vince McMahon Impressed With Charlotte, Reason Hideo Itami Won, More

As previously reported, Vince McMahon was in attendance for the NXT event this past Friday in San Jose, California. He was said to be very impressed with the work of Charlotte and Sasha Banks. There was talk of Charlotte going to the main roster during Wrestlemania week and now that’s increased after McMahon saw her work. He’s also requested that she be featured more in the WWE’s Tapout commercials.

– Hideo Itami won the NXT tournament for a spot in the Andre the Giant Battle Royal, but it was a last minute decision. The original plan was for Finn Balor or Adrian Neville to go over. When the match was moved to the pre-show, the decision was changed to Itami. He was selected to tie him into Tatsumi Fujinami going into the WWE Hall of Fame, as there were a lot of Japanese media in town covering Fujinami.

– The decision to bring Neville to the main roster has been in the works for a while now.

– CJ Parker decided to leave NXT because he felt he had been in development long enough. He has been there for almost four years. He wants to go out on the independents and make a name for himself. He also wants to wrestle internationally and improve his skills. He reportedly didn’t want to be seen as a talent who spent too much time in developmental and never moved on.

Backstage Update On WWE Changing How The Divas Division Is Portrayed

We reported earlier that over WrestleMania 31 week that there was a lot of talk about WWE changing how the Divas are portrayed. It was noted that due to the "#GiveDivasAChance" campaign and the success of Total Divas, some WWE officials had their "eyes opened" in regards to how the Divas are booked with the feeling that they need to do more with their female competitors.

Part of changing how the Divas division will be portrayed apparently includes bringing up new talents and introducing new characters. There's still a lot of talk about former NXT Women's Champion Charlotte making her main roster debut soon but we haven't heard anything about other NXT Divas that might get called up.

Opinionated View- The real problem with the Divas division remains the same though. The issue isn't just match time. Because they aren't enough talented girls to have good matches. Bring up Charlotte would be a good start but not enough. I mean ok the bing Charlotte up and she does jobs to the fucking Bellas or has to carry worthless Namoi or Fox?

WWE Bringing NXT Stars Up After WrestleMania 31?

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that the idea behind NXT has changed a lot lately as Triple H loves all the praise he gets for NXT on social media. WWE originally was looking to train new talents from the bottom to the main roster but it appears they are recruiting top talents for the NXT brand itself. The idea is to replace some of the top indie stars who can already work good matches with more indie stars.

Regarding call-ups, there's no word on NXT Champion Kevin Owens or Sami Zayn getting brought to the main roster but there has been a lot of talk about NXT Women's Champion Sasha Banks, Adrian Neville and possibly Charlotte getting called up. With how WWE likes to introduce new talents after WrestleMania, it's possible we see new main roster talents in April.

Opinionated View- Well there is always the post mania call up. The problem is once they go to the main roster they wind up being booked the main roster creative team. Hell look at the Ascension great tag team. Having good matches in NXT. On the main roster they are getting jobbed out by the freaking Prime Time Players. Zayn, Owen, and Nevillie are great but I can't see WWE giving them the time or chances they get in NXT. The Divas division is good in NXT but on the main roster I could see her getting jobbed out to The Bellas or Alica Fox because they got to promote Total Divas.

Backstage Talk On Charlotte

There are people within WWE who are high on former NXT Women's Champion Charlotte but she also has people who are negative on bringing her to the main roster. The negativity may have to do with some people having their vision of what a WWE Diva should look like and Charlotte not fitting the supermodel image. Charlotte is still expected to be brought to the main roster soon.

Opinionated View- I'm torn on Charlotte she is talented. I think she's gotten over hyped due the fact she's Flair daughter and general WWE sheepness. But she is much more talented than most of the divas. And it seems they are just going she's not good looking enough. I would much rather see someone like her who is atlethic and fit than most of the plastic girls like Fox or The Bellas.

WWE Hall of Famer, NXT star booked for RAW tapings

NXT Women's Champion Charlotte and WWE Hall of Famer Edge have been booked for upcoming editions of RAW later this month according to a report by Mike Johnson. Charlotte has been booked for the 12/22 RAW in Minneapolis, Minnesota, while Edge, along with WWE star Christian, have been booked for the 12/29 RAW in Washington, DC. It is believed that Edge & Christian will be appearing as the guest general managers for that episode of RAW.

Why Charlotte Lost on Raw

On Monday night, NXT Women’s Champion Charlotte made her Raw debut, and lost quickly to Natalya. This confused many as the match was supposed to be an NXT showcase match, to hype tonight’s NXT special.

During yesterday’s NXT Conference call, Triple H spoke about the match. He said that there were time constraints as segments went long, so the ladies segment lost time. He noted that he would have loved to showcase them with the time that they got in NXT but that they didn’t have that chance. Triple H added that when Charlotte comes up to the main roster that she will be presented differently and that the hope was people would forget about the match
.
Word is that the match changed a few times during the day, going from a singles match to a tag team match and then back to the singles match. Vince McMahon made the call to have Charlotte lose the match. Natalya reportedly offered to do the honors for Charlotte, as she felt that it was the right thing to do. Vince ultimately decided against Natalya’s idea, and that’s how Charlotte lost her debut match.

 Opinionated View- At least she lost to someone with talent instead of losing to Eva Marie or Alica Fox.

When Will Charlotte Be Called Up From NXT?

Charlotte is reportedly set to debut on the main WWE roster by the end of the year. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, most in the company are under the assumption that she will appear on the main roster soon after the NXT Takeover special on December 11th.

Most people viewed her appearance at the WrestleMania 31 Ticket Kickoff Party to be an indicator that she’s making it to the main roster soon.

Opinionated View- I really don't see what's the big deal. Yeah she's better than girls like Bellas or Alicia Fox but she's not that good. I  think a lot of people over hype her because of who her father is.

Update On Charlotte’s Ring Name

Charlotte is listed as “Charlotte Flair” on the advertisement. Until now, WWE has been calling her Charlotte although the fact that she’s Ric Flair’s daughter has been mentioned several times on NXT. Flair has also appeared in her corner on NXT shows. It’s unknown why the name was changed for the advertisement. There has been speculation that Charlotte will be called up to the main roster after the NXT live show next month.

How WWE Views Some of the Divas in NXT

NXT’s Alexa Bliss is being looked at by Triple H and other officials as a talent to build the divas division around. They have also looked at Sasha Banks, Bayley and Charlotte. Banks is said to be a little stiff but they are hoping to eliminate that problem. They are also happy with Bayley’s improvement, but Bliss and Banks are higher up on the list.

Opinionated View- NXT does have some talented Divas. The problem is on the main roster they will wind up jobbing to the total divas.

Charlotte Challenging AJ Lee at Live Events

- NXT Women’s champion Charlotte reportedly cut promos at WWE live events this week and called out WWE Divas titleholder AJ Lee. This could mean that Charlotte could get a push up to the main roster soon

Update On Four NXT Talents Set To Go To Main Roster

The latest NXT talents set to be moved to the main roster are Kalisto, The Ascension and Charlotte. The Ascension are the current NXT tag champions while Charlotte is the NXT Women's champion. Since she's being called up soon, there has been talk of having Charlotte lose her title to Bayley at NXT Takeover 2, but nothing has been decided upon yet. 

Opinionated View- I'm not to sold on Charlotte I think a lot of people over sell her based on who her father is. The Ascension is a good team and a cool act (even if I do feel the version with TNA's Bram was the better one) but we have seen how WWE handles tag teams it wouldn't shock me have to do jobs to the freaking Dust Brothers. Kalisto is a great talent but I worry he will be one of those guys creative never gets together on.

WWE Divas News and Notes

Aksana was released so that WWE could make room for NXT diva call-ups. Charlotte and Sasha Banks have been rumored to be the next ladies to join the main roster. 

Aksana was reportedly one of Kevin Dunn's favorite divas, but aside from Dunn she had very little support backstage. Dunn reportedly had cooled on her in recent months, which some say led to her release. 

In other diva news, word is that Rosa Mendes' job was saved because E! wanted her for the next season of Total Divas.

Opinionated View- Aksana was just the waste of a roster spot. Screw you E! It's bad enough you air total divas now you are saving another waste of a roster spot.

Charlotte Booked for WWE MSG Show

NXT Women's champion Charlotte is set to make her WWE Madison Square Garden debut at the MSG house show on 7/12. Ric Flair (her father) was also recently announced for the show, so he will likely be involved with her, perhaps as her manager.

Injury for WWE NXT Diva

WWE NXT Diva Charlotte (aka Ashley Fliehr, daughter of Ric Flair) is currently out of action. The report stated that she underwent "minor surgery." No details are known at this time.
