Update on Sami Zayn

During the Q and A session with WWE and NXT stars at the San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday, Sami Zayn was asked about the timetable for his return to the ring after undergoing shoulder surgery last month. Zayn said that he just got out of a sling yesterday and he hopes to get back into the ring by the end of 2015 to the beginning of 2016.

Injury Updates on Sami Zayn and Hideo Itami

– In case you don’t want to read last night’s NXT Spoilers, here are the latest updates on Sami Zayn and Hideo Itami.
* Itami appeared on the tapings and said that he’ll be appearing live at WWE’s 4th of July special from Tokyo, Japan, but will be out of action for another 3-4 months.
* Zayn also appeared, and stated that he likely wouldn’t be back in the ring by the end of the year.
Neither is exactly an official update from WWE, but it may give us some reference as to when they may return from injury.

Sami Zayn Reportedly Out Until October

Sami Zayn is expected to be out of action until October. As previously reported, Zayn had surgery last week to repair his shoulder injury.
NXT currently has a live special set for October 7th with TV tapings set for the day after. Whether Zayn will return then or not isn’t yet known.

Opinionated View- That's to bad because it was clear WWE was about to call him up. But hopefully he can heal up and it won't be an ongoing issue anymore.

Kevin Owens Wasn’t WWE’s First Choice For Main Roster Call-Up?

Kevin Owens may not have been WWE’s first choice to be the next call-up from NXT. WWE originally planned on bringing Sami Zayn up after his NXT Takeover match with Owens, but Zayn suffered an injury and plans changed.
Owens signed a new main roster contract and will work all RAW shows in the future. He will also keep working in NXT until he loses the NXT title and moves to the main roster full time.
Meanwhile, WWE also has “big plans” for Finn Balor on the main roster whenever they decide to call him up.

Opinionated View- It seemed like they had plans for Zayn based on how much they gave him in that match with Cena. But I will give the WWE credit they picked a good plan B in Owens. Hopefually when Zayn is backed he get called up and a good push as well. And hopefully Balor gets a good push as well.

NXT star Sami Zayn is in Birmingham, Alabama today. He is scheduled to be getting shoulder surgery to repair his damaged rotator cuff. Zayn was written out of NXT storylines at the NXT Takeover: Unstoppable event. The injury, which was aggravated again when Zayn appeared on Raw to wrestle John Cena, is something that has been bothering Zayn since before he signed with WWE

Zayn to Have Surgery?, Itami Injury Update

While Sami Zayn was medically cleared to return for NXT Takeover: Unstoppable, the word in the locker room is that he needs shoulder surgery. He may have the surgery as early as next month and the way the Unstoppable main event was booked may have been to write him off.
– While there’s been a lot of discussion about the amount of wear and tear that some of the WWE and NXT talent have taken over their careers causing injuries, Hideo Itami’s injury is believed to have been a fluke.

- During today’s Triple H conference call, he announced that Sami Zayn has been medically cleared and will face Kevin Owens tomorrow night at the NXT Takeover: Unstoppable show.

When Will WWE Reveal NXT Injuries,

WWE will likely announce the injuries of Sami Zayn and Hideo Itami on this week’s episode of NXT. As of now, both are still scheduled to compete at NXT Takeover on May 20. If they are pulled, that would likely be announced on the show as well.

Sami Zayn Comments on Injury

WWE.com has a new interview with Sami Zayn, talking about the shoulder injury he suffered in his match with John Cena on the 5/4 WWE RAW in Montreal.

"I'm an easy-going, take-things-as-they-come kind of guy, not just in the ring, but in life. Experiences like this make you realize that a lack of certainty can be very unnerving. Not knowing what the future has in store for you can be unsettling, especially when you're riding that momentum. In the blink of an eye, things change. That's the nature of the industry we work in. It can be frustrating, but you have to keep your chin up and not get too down on yourself and believe that in some way that it's all for the best. A lot of fans have been really supportive and have commended me. In a weird way, it could be the worst thing that ever happened to me or the best thing that ever happened to me. Update on Sami Zayn’s Shoulder Injury

WWE sources believe that Sami Zayn suffered some sort of rotator cuff injury on Monday’s Raw. One person believed Zayn had a torn rotator cuff, but that has not been confirmed. Zayn was out of action in March and April due to a shoulder issue. On Monday’s Raw, Zayn was playing to the hometown crowd during his entrance, which is where he suffered the injury. Zayn injures his shoulder when he gets on the steps and is motioning to the crowd…

Zayn is currently scheduled to face Kevin Owens for the NXT Title on the May 20th NXT special. No word if he will be able to compete in the match at this time.

Opinionated View- Even worse for Zayn ESPN is reporting some fans are filling a five million dollar lawsuit against guys that enter the ring with rotator cuff injures. So odds are he is getting sued soon and he could go to jail for perjury if he lied to the commission... Ok joking aside this is awful to hear. Heal up quick Sami.

Zayn Set For More TV Tapings

According to WZ, Sami Zayn is scheduled to appear at more main roster TV tapings for WWE. That depends, of course, on what his condition is; as previously reported Zayn suffered a shoulder injury on Raw and had an MRI done today to determine how bad it is.

Opinionated View- Well they got him off to a good start on Monday. You just hope the shoulder doesn't keep him out so long the chance is lost.

According to f4wonline.com, Sami Zayn injured his shoulder during his entrance on Raw last night. Pwinsider.com notes that Zayn was out of action during February and March due to a “minor, nagging shoulder injury”.

Breaking News: Sami Zayn Injured

WWE.com has announced that Sami Zayn will undergo an MRI tomorrow for an injured shoulder he sustained during his match against John Cena on Raw tonight.

Zayn took a belly to back suplex from Cena early on in the match and landed awkwardly on his left shoulder. Zayn was tended to by a WWE trainer during his match against Cena, but he kept going and finished the bout.

The WWE.com report notes the MRI will take place tomorrow to determine the extent of the injury.

Opinionated View- That sucks for Sami and his fans. I thought WWE debuted him very well. I didn't get to see his whole match so I missed the injury but I was hoping it was just a work. Hopefully its not to bad. NXT Stars At RAW

 NXT stars Charlotte and Sami Zayn are backstage for tonight' WWE RAW in Montreal, which is Sami's hometown.

Opinionated View- Fingers are crossed if they re-debut on the main roster (Both have worked matches on Raw and Main Event I believe) WWE will use them right. And WWE has done well with Neville but they also have blown it with the Ascension.

 Sami Zayn didn’t work the NXT house shows over the weekend because he is out of action due to a shoulder injury. No word on how serious it is or how long he may be out.

WWE Bringing NXT Stars Up After WrestleMania 31?

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that the idea behind NXT has changed a lot lately as Triple H loves all the praise he gets for NXT on social media. WWE originally was looking to train new talents from the bottom to the main roster but it appears they are recruiting top talents for the NXT brand itself. The idea is to replace some of the top indie stars who can already work good matches with more indie stars.

Regarding call-ups, there's no word on NXT Champion Kevin Owens or Sami Zayn getting brought to the main roster but there has been a lot of talk about NXT Women's Champion Sasha Banks, Adrian Neville and possibly Charlotte getting called up. With how WWE likes to introduce new talents after WrestleMania, it's possible we see new main roster talents in April.

Opinionated View- Well there is always the post mania call up. The problem is once they go to the main roster they wind up being booked the main roster creative team. Hell look at the Ascension great tag team. Having good matches in NXT. On the main roster they are getting jobbed out by the freaking Prime Time Players. Zayn, Owen, and Nevillie are great but I can't see WWE giving them the time or chances they get in NXT. The Divas division is good in NXT but on the main roster I could see her getting jobbed out to The Bellas or Alica Fox because they got to promote Total Divas.

Top NXT Star May Miss This Week's Tapings

Sami Zayn is currently in Abu Dhabi right now doing promotional work for the WWE live events in the United Arab Emirates this week. The reported plan is for Zayn to fly back to Orlando, Florida for the NXT Takeover: Rival special on Wednesday before flying back to Abu Dhabi for live events on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Unless Zayn misses part of the UAE tour, he will likely miss Thursday’s NXT TV tapings at Full Sail University.

It’s possible that Zayn could be written off of TV for a few weeks to explain why he’s gone. This doesn’t mean that he’s going to lose his title match with Kevin Owens at Takeover. NXT will tape on Thursday and next Wednesday. There’s no word on how many shows will be taped each time but it’s usually between three and four. Zayn might be back before next week’s shows. He was previously written off of TV for a few weeks in December, selling injuries caused by Owens when he won the NXT title.

Zayn had an interview last month where he said he would like to compete on each portion of the tour. WWE has Zayn advertised for the NXT live event in Fort Pierce, Florida but not the Abu Dhabi events.

NXT Stars on the Road With Main Roster

Several NXT stars are on the road with WWE's main roster this weekend. On Friday Night in North Charleston, South Carolina, Sasha Banks and Alicia Fox lost to Paige and Natayla. Saturday night's live event in Jacksonville, Florida saw a repeat of that match while last night's live event in Salt Lake City, Utah saw Adrian Neville and NXT Champion Sami Zayn defeat The Ascension. JoJo is also on the road this weekend as she did ring announcing in Jacksonville.

Update on NXT Stars Potentially Appearing in The Rumble Match

Yesterday it was reported that some NXT stars could appear in the Royal Rumble match. WWE sent out a survey yesterday, asking which NXT stars fans would like to see in the Rumble. NXT stars Adrian Neville, Kalisto, Hideo Itami, Finn Balor, Bull Dempsey, Tyler Breeze, Enzo Amore, and Sami Zayn were included in the survey.

- At this time, company officials are looking to do an extended program between Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. Depending on how long things are laid out for, the feeling is that Zayn could be in NXT for most of 2015

Opinionated View- A double edge sword. In NXT Zayn is free to have good matches but he's still just in the minor league. Of course if he gets called up knowing WWE if he's still working the bunny he will just be the comedy guy so they can make jokes or if he's Zayn he will be jobbed out.
