More Details On AJ Lee’s Retirement from the WWE

- PWInsider has a new report with more information regarding AJ Lee’s recent exit from the WWE. The report suggests that Lee had been planning to retire for some time based on her post-match scene with Paige at WrestleMania 31, where Paige appeared to be hugging AJ goodbye.

Per the report, AJ Lee was in a tough position due to the recent conflicts between WWE and her husband CM Punk. As mentioned by Punk on Colt Cobana’s The Art of Wrestling podcast, WWE fired Punk on his wedding day with AJ Lee. In addition, it was difficult because WWE was supporting staff doctor Chris Amann after he filed a lawsuit against Punk and Cabana based on Punk’s comments on the podcast. Punk claimed that Amann refused to treat and misdiagnosed a growth on his back. Per Punk’s account, the growth turned out to be a MRSA staph infection. After the lawsuit was filed, WWE asked AJ Lee to return to TV from a neck injury.

It is currently unknown if Lee still plans to wrestle on the independent scene. The report speculates that WWE will likely hold her to her contract if she is in fact “retired.”

Opinionated View- I would hope if AJ wanted to keep wrestling they would grant her a release. It would be the first time WWE has granted a release for someone who wanted out and it wouldn't be the last.

CM Punk Will Walk Anthony Pettis To The Cage At UFC 185

Former WWE star turned UFC fighter Phil "CM Punk" Brooks will be walking current UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis to the cage at UFC 185 in Dallas next weekend on 3/14. Punk is currently training at Roufusport in Milwaukee where Pettis trains.

Punk had previously tried to walk former UFC fighter Chael Sonnen to the cage back in January 2012 for UFC on FOX 2 in Chicago, but was denied by Vince McMahon.

CM Punk Documentary Being Filmed

PWInsider reports that a film crew was doing shooting during CM Punk’s comic book signing appearance yesterday in Chicago. The crew was shooting the material for the UFC, documenting Punk’s transition from pro wrestling to MMA.

WWE Using Chris Amann’s Lawsuit as Revenge Against CM Punk?

According to reports by the Wrestling Observer WWE’s statement in support of Chris Amann in his lawsuit against CM Punk is a way of getting back at Punk for being “outworked” by Punk when he left the company. As previously reported, WWE sent out a statement showing a video from the Royal Rumble of Punk’s back which they say disputes his claims of having a lump on his back which Amann misdiagnosed.

The site reports that WWE “lost round one to a guy they now believe beat them at their own game and they can’t say that so this is what they are doing.” The company thought they had Punk “dead to rights” when they settled with him, but now they think he beat them and didn’t take it well.

The company reportedly is doing this for revenge “for them being worked into caving early” and because they can’t sue, they’re using Amman’s lawsuit. It adds that WWE believes they are in the right.

Opinionated View- Well I could see Vince and others in the WWE being so petty they would want to get back at Punk. Hell they have done similar stuff to guys in the past. They also have to defend and support Amann because he still works there. And I assume if they didn't it could/would be used against them other legal matters. Because you will have that story out there in the general public.

For what it's worth, a photo from WWE.com of Phil "CM Punk" Brooks at the Night of Champions PPV in 2013 has started to make the rounds after WWE issued a statement to the media on Friday night responding to allegations by Brooks. A noticeable lump can be seen just above Punk's hip in the photo.

The WWE statement specifically focused on the Royal Rumble PPV in 2014 and that the company had "no medical records documenting this alleged condition" of Brooks

More On CM Punk's WWE Allegations, Where The Lump Was Located

As noted earlier, WWE sent us a statement disputing CM Punk's claims about Dr. Chris Amann, who filed a defamation lawsuit on Thursday against Punk and Colt Cabana over their Art of Wrestling podcast from last year. The statement noted that Punk claimed that he performed at The Royal Rumble last year with a baseball-sized, purple lump on his back located near the waistband of his tights. WWE released the video above with nearly four minutes of ass shots of Punk from The Royal Rumble to show that there was no growth on his back.
It should be noted that Punk appeared on Opus radio last December and showed the scar from his staph infection. The growth would have been located below the waistband of his tights. You can see video of Punk showing the scar below at the 0:35 mark:

In light of CM Punk's allegations regarding WWE's medical staff and the subsequent defamation lawsuit filed by Dr. Amann against CM Punk, WWE continues to have the utmost confidence in the ability and expertise of our world-class team of physicians, including Dr.
CM Punk claimed this past November that during the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event on January 26, 2014 he performed with a baseball-sized, purple lump on his back located near the waistband of his tights.
WWE's investigation has shown the following:
* CM Punk did not discuss this alleged condition with WWE's team of physicians and trainers, nor did he discuss it with anyone in our Talent Relations department.
* Subsequently, WWE has no medical records documenting this alleged condition.
* The first time WWE was made aware of this alleged condition was when we received a letter from CM Punk's attorney on August 22, 2014 after WWE terminated his contract.
* There is clear video evidence from the 2014 Royal Rumble, which allows all to decide whether there is any appearance of a baseball-sized growth on CM Punk's back.

- The Chicago Sun-Times has a story about Dr. Chris Amann’s lawsuit against CM Punk and Colt Cabana. The lawsuit is two counts and Amann actually wants $2 million in damages. He’s claiming defamation and invasion of privacy against both men.

CM Punk and Colt Cabana Sued By WWE Doctor

WWE's Dr. Chris Amann filed a lawsuit earlier today against former WWE champion CM Punk and Colt Cabana in Cook County Civil Court, according to Cook County Record.

According to the newspaper article, Amann is, "claiming his reputation has suffered as a result of the former WWE wrestlers’ comments, Amann is seeking more than $1 million in compensatory damages, as well as an undetermined amount of punitive damages." In the filing, Amann claims that everything Punk claimed about his medical care under Amann while working for WWE were false and "repeatedly and falsely impugned the integrity" of Amann. In November 2014, Punk broke his post-WWE silence discussing his time in the company and the issues that led to his departure. He stated that a lump on his back was diagnosed as a fat deposit and despite several requests, it was not cut out. Punk later learned, after he left WWE, it was a MRSA staph infection that was cut out in what Punk described as the most painful experience in his life. In response, in the suit, Amann stated he "was not requested by Brooks to treat and/or excise a lump, let alone a purple, baseball-sized lump." Amann claims the comments made by Punk and Cabana on the Art of Wrestling podcast, "are highly offensive in that they accuse [him] of a gross lack of integrity as a medical doctor, an inability to perform his professional duties as a medical doctor, and in placing the financial interest of his employer above life-threatening health conditions of his patients." Cabana is included in the lawsuit, according to the article, for allegedly "helping Brooks [Punk] falsely depict" Amann. Given that the lawsuit was filed today, it's doubtful Cabana and Punk have been served yet. Punk is now training for his UFC debut.

CM Punk Being Removed From WWE Comic Books

- If you have any WWE comic books featuring CM Punk then hold onto them, because they’re going to become rarities. PWInsider reports that WWE has ordered Paper Cutz Comic Book producers to remove Punk from all future reprints of graphic novels featuring WWE characters and storylines. All issues that do feature Punk are not currently in print.

WWE no longer has the rights to use the CM Punk name or image for licensed products as his deal with the company was officially terminated in October and he owns the rights to his name.

WWE Changes Talent Contracts Following CM Punk/Alberto Del Rio Departures

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has made a change to their contracts following CM Punk and Alberto Del Rio’s contentious departures from the company and jump to other organizations. The new stipulation reads that if the talent is fired for disciplinary reasons, they will forfeit all merchandise rights and will be unable to work in either pro wrestling or MMA for one year.

While the clause is unlikely to hold up in court if challenged, successfully contesting that would take money and many talent don’t make the kind of money it would likely require to do so.

No CM Punk Policy At WWE Live Events: T-Shirts And Signs Banned

WWE is currently sticking to a “No CM Punk” policy at live events, including the January 31 event in Canada and the December 26 event at Madison Square Garden. Security staff at both venues claim that WWE won’t let fans wear Punk merchandise or carry Punk signs. If they do, they’ll be asked to remove their signs, change their clothes or leave the venue.

 During last night’s RAW in Minnesota, at least five fans were kicked out for violating the policy. Guards could be seen taking several Punk signs.

CM Punk Talks UFC and WWE With Rolling Stone

Kenny Herzog of Rolling Stone is featuring a lengthy interview with former WWE star CM Punk (Phil Brooks) discussing the announcement of his signing with UFC this weekend.
Punk confirms in the interview that his settlement with WWE a few months ago allowed the signing to take place. Had it not, he would have been waiting until the summer of 2015.

If critics aren't being realistic about his UFC debut in 2015:

"I definitely do think it's a win-win for myself and the UFC, but I will be quick to point out that, normally, the first person to tell you that something's impossible has already failed at it. And this is not me passing judgment on anyone else. It's just my perception of things. There's a very real possibility that whatever anybody's definition of failure is, that might happen to me, but I'm confident it won't, because I believe in myself and I believe in my ability. All this is me; it's my life. I've seen some people get really bent out of shape about it, and that I can't really spend time trying to grasp. If you're really that upset about it, you're going to see me get punched in the face, so it's a win-win for you too."

 

Why other MMA fighters shouldn't be mad at him:

"For sure. I'm not gonna sit here and make bold predictions about first-round head kicks and beating ranked opponents. This is about me and my journey to get there. I understand other peoples' point of view about, "Oh, there's great fighters out there like Ben Askren." My only point on that is, "Don't be mad at me, Ben. Be mad at [UFC President] Dana [White]." I'm sure Ben Askren's a nice guy. If he's mad at me, I understand. But if the Blackhawks came to me before Dana and Lorenzo did and were like, "We're gonna put you in goal," I'd be like, "That's great. I played a little hockey when I was a kid." You know what I mean? I'm not gonna deny myself some opportunity because somebody on Twitter thinks I shouldn't have it."

 

His decision to talk and sign with UFC:

"I'm not sure I did know. If I can maybe throw out an example of how things are different – the lack of communication from the WWE office was astounding. They said they suspended me and never contacted me. They were in my town, about an eight-minute drive from my house multiple times, and didn't feel like it was necessary to come try and talk to me, so I assumed that they didn't want to talk to me. Then, you've got Dana and [UFC CEO] Lorenzo Fertitta wanting to talk to me, and they get on a jet and fly to Chicago to talk to me. So that pretty much told me exactly how Dana and Lorenzo do business. I'm sure there are other people out there who have different situations with them, but they're playing straight with me. And being backstage [at last Saturday's UFC 181] and introducing everybody to my wife, it was such a great experience. And I'm sure part of that is the name value and who I am, but everyone seemed to be happy, which is different and odd for me."

 

Why he feels pro wrestling is more risky:

"I definitely think pro wrestling's more risky. The pro wrestler's mentality, and it's ingrained in them from the start, is you have to work hurt. And I know guys in MMA are banged up and will "work hurt," but if you tear your knee up, you're gonna get surgery. Pro wrestlers will not, because they're afraid about losing their jobs. They will work through torn ligaments and everything, and I've done it and it's not smart, and it's not the healthiest work environment. If I step in the Octagon and I get knocked out, I don't gotta keep fighting. If that was pro wrestling, and I slipped and I fell and something happened to me and I got knocked out and I woke up three seconds later, guess what: I gotta finish this match. That's just the pro wrestler's mentality, and I'm glad I don't really have to be subjected to that anymore. Imagine if an MMA fighter fought four-to-five nights a week. That's essentially what I was doing in pro wrestling. Obviously, there's big differences between a real fight and a fake one, but it's a lot more wear and tear on your body, the travel is brutal. So I won't be doing that."

 

What he would define as his biggest weakest point right now:

"Oh, striking, absolutely. I'm a raw nerve. I'm exposed to the world here, and I don't think people realize I'm used to this. Nothing scares me. Nothing embarrasses me, so I'm gonna say it right now: Striking's my weakest point, and I'm excited to get that up to the level where I feel it needs to be. But who's to say what it takes to step into the Octagon? I think I need to up my game on everything, and that's the plan, but I think striking's going to be the most fun for me."

Latest On When CM Punk Will Make His UFC Debut

Rajah claims they have a source “very close to the situation” who says that the UFC is targeting their July 2015 PPV for CM Punk’s debut. The idea is to have them leverage Punk’s name value for a big show for the company and the July PPV includes a UFC Fan Expo during the weekend before it.

Opinionated View- Punk is not going headline a card lets be clear about that. I assume it will be like with Brock he will be featured on the show. They will do a lot with story of ex pro wrestler turned MMA fighter but the main event will be something a light weight title fight.

Dana White on CM Punk

UFC president Dana White told ESPN that he does not intend to throw C.M. Punk to the wolves when he makes his debut inside the octagon in 2015. "He wanted to fight here," White said. "He wanted to give it a shot, so we gave him an opportunity. It's not like Brock Lesnar. We're not going to throw the kitchen sink at him. Lesnar had a wrestling background. C.M. Punk on when he signed with UFC, first fight notes, starting his career at age 36

C.M. Punk was interviewed on the UFC Post Fight Show on Fox Sports 1. The following are the highlights.
Punk on when the deal was made: "It took a while because of the lawyers and all that, there's a lot of back and forth. I think if anybody is more excited than me it's Dana (White) and Lorenzo (Fertitta). They came to Chicago, we had dinner and a conversation and the seed kind of grew from there. I mean, signed, sealed, and delivered, the deal, maybe a week ago. I think I got the papers the day before or on Thanksgiving."
Punk on who initiated the talks: "Because of the legality of things, I didn't want to reach out to them until I was free and clear. I didn't want to muddy the waters, so to speak. We maybe had a conversation, but it was more like, 'Hey, you ever think about doing this?' And I would be like, 'Yeah, it looks like it would be fun. It looks like it's something I'm crazy enough to do.' So there were always little conversations like that, but when it got serious, I think everybody was serious and like, okay, we're seriously talking about this, we're on board, we have to do this."
Punk on starting his career at age 36: "I am in my infinite wisdom at the ripe old age of 36 trying to be less of a hot head and see where people are coming from. And I understand. If that's your opinion, that's awesome. It's my job to change your mind, although that is not going to be one of my hangups. I am not going to deal with negativity. Plus, it's part of the game. I think there needs to be fighters out there that are call me out and say those things. I just hope somebody is more creative than the fake wrestling thing because it's too obvious."
Punk on when he will have his first fight: The idea behind me fighting is I won't fight until I'm ready. I have Dana and Lorenzo's word on that. And while I don't want to take forever because I do feel like I have a (small) window to get this ball rolling, I definitely don't want to jump into something that I don't feel I am ready for. So it might be a full six months of me training my ass off every day and kind of reevaluate, see where I'm at. The goal is 2015."

Breaking News: CM Punk Signs Fight Deal With the UFC

During UFC 181 Phil "CM Punk" Brooks appeared on the broadcast and announced he had signed a fight deal with the company. Punk didn't give many details but did say he would fight at either Middleweight (185 lbs.) or Welterweight (170 lbs.)

Opinionated View- I will do a video giving my full thoughts. But look at this way. If Punk succeeds in the UFC than he becomes a superstar in MMA. If he fails some fighter gets paid and is made a hero to MMA fans for beating the fake pro wrestler. Plus you know how many former Football players, boxers, stuntmen body builders populate the various levels of MMA?

Dana White Revelas He is Talking With CM Punk This Weekend

UFC President Dana White revealed in an interview with Jim Rome that he would be talking with former WWE star CM Punk at UFC 181 this weekend in Las Vegas.

"He left the WWE for whatever reason, he’s a huge fan of the UFC, he’s been training for a few years now, and he’s interested in fighting. I’m interested in talking to him. … CM Punk is coming to the show this weekend, and we’re going to talk. You never know (if he can fight) until you get in there. I didn’t know if Brock could fight. I thought Brock was crazy for coming over here. But, the difference with Brock Lesnar is Brock was a world-class wrestler. I don’t know. We’ll see."
