Alberto El Patron Offered Kickboxing Deal

The Wrestling Observer (via Wrestlezone) reports that during an interview in Puerto Rico, Alberto El Patron mentioned that he’s received offers for MMA promotions like the UFC and Bellator. The UFC have denied they offered him a deal.
The Glory kickboxing promotion was also mentioned. While it airs on Spike TV with Bellator, it was not a joint offer that would have Alberto fighting for both. Other companies made offers, including a television group, but he said he won’t fight unless he can make “significant money” in MMA. This would mean that he would make more in MMA than in wrestling.

Opinionated View- Ok big mistake Glory. Wrestling fans will tune into CM Punk's debut because wrestling fans care about CM Punk. No one cares about Del Rio. Just listen the silence that would greet at every show.

WWE Changes Talent Contracts Following CM Punk/Alberto Del Rio Departures

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has made a change to their contracts following CM Punk and Alberto Del Rio’s contentious departures from the company and jump to other organizations. The new stipulation reads that if the talent is fired for disciplinary reasons, they will forfeit all merchandise rights and will be unable to work in either pro wrestling or MMA for one year.

While the clause is unlikely to hold up in court if challenged, successfully contesting that would take money and many talent don’t make the kind of money it would likely require to do so.

Opinionated View- What a crock of shit! Sadly though the story if right most guys wont' have the money to fight it or want to fight since they will hope the WWE will bring them back at some point

Alberto El Patron News: ROH Plans, Another MMA Company Bidding For Him

- As previously reported, Alberto El Patron is in talks with Bellator MMA about a deal to fight for the promotion. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that El Patron is in talks with another MMA company as well and that unsurprisingly, he will be signing with the better money offer.

The site adds that in terms of his Ring of Honor work, El Patron asked specifically to work with ACH. Patron wants to work with ACH because he believes ACH is very talented and comes from San Antonio. He has also asked to work with Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly.

TNA Making Another Attempt to Sign Alberto Del Rio

The Wrestling Observer reports that TNA attempted yet again to sign Alberto Del Rio to the roster. One source claims TNA offered him a deal that was in the range of $400,000 per year.

Per the report, TNA wanted to get an exclusive deal with Del Rio. Currently, Del Rio is scheduled to work AAA’s Lucha Underground in 2015 and Ring of Honor. TNA will apparently have to be willing to give up exclusivity in order to get a deal done with Del Rio, or possibly increase the guaranteed money offer.

TNA officials have reportedly been trying to convince Del Rio that he will get more exposure in the US if he works for them. TNA executive John Gaburick is pushing hard to get Del Rio because he worked closely with the Superstar when they both worked for WWE.

Opinionated View- This smell a big old load of Dave's BS. Remember he was one of the people saying "TNA was calling Del Rio the night he left the WWE." And now he's got to cover. And if TNA is offering Del Rio than it's a mistake.

Alberto Del Rio Appearing at ROH Events in January

- Former WWE star Albert Del Rio will be appearing at several ROH events in January. Del Rio had previously teased that he would be working for two companies in the US, the other would be Lucha Underground.

Opinionated View- Right now all the ROH Bots that when the rumors were he was going TNA were going "Just another WWE caste off." Are now no doubt marking out bragging about how "Del Rio picked ROH over TNA." But hey it fits Del Rio is the most boring wrestlers out there and now he can be on the most boring shows in the world.

If Del Rio did pick ROH over TNA than good. Because TNA has much better talent that would make this D-Level player look like the hack he is.

Bellator MMA Planning to Sign Pro Wrestlers To MMA Deals; Del Rio a Possible Target

ORIGINAL: PWInsider has confirmed with sources in Spike TV and those close to Bellator MMA that the promotion has a plan to bring in professional wrestlers as MMA fighters. The company has what is described as a “gameplan” to bring in current and former wrestlers to bolster their roster. Bobby Lashley is currently part of the promotion.
The plan is to utilize wrestlers’ mic skills to build off potential “storylines” and create more media attention for them. No wrestlers are confirmed as being contacted but the company was previously reported as being interested in Brock Lesnar, and PWInsider says that he and Alberto Del Rio are the style and level of talent being looked at. Del Rio has fought in MMA before and has a career record of 9 – 5, with his last fight having taken place in 2010.

UPDATE: The Wrestling Observer is adding to reports that Bellator is looking to sign professional wrestlers to fighter contracts. The site notes that Alberto Del Rio is one of their targets of interest. As previously reported, WWE tried to include MMA in their no-compete clause when he was let go from the company. Del Rio reportedly agreed to certain parts of the no-compete clause; it isn’t known whether MMA was part of that. FOX Sports writer Damon Martin posted the following to Twitter, claiming that Del Rio is “itching for a fight”:

Opinionated View- WAIT 1 MOTHER FUCKING MOMENT! First Bellator no matter how you try to spin this it will look like you are just doing this copy the UFC and CM Punk. Second Viacom you want to do stuff with pro wrestling just months after you cancel the pro wrestling show on SPIKE TV. Third Del Rio sucks!

Update on When Alberto Del Rio Could Start With Lucha Underground

As previously reported, following his settlement with WWE, Alberto Del Rio’s non-compete clause was dropped, and he is now free to pursue other wrestling bookings outside of the WWE. Del Rio has already started working with AAA, and has also made appearances on Puerto Rico and Japan.
Del Rio had previously stated that he would possibly work with the Lucha Underground promotion. WrestleZone notes that Lucha Underground has a set of tapings scheduled for January 17th, which could be the date Del Rio makes his debut.

Albert Del Rio’s Settlement with WWE Included Financial Settlement

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has more details over the settlement that was reached between WWE and Alberto Del Rio with regards to the non-compete clause in his WWE contract. Del Rio is currently with AAA.
Both sides came to agreement on several terms. Del Rio agreed not to sue the WWE and agreed to not make any more negative comments toward WWE in the media. This would include Del Rio’s allegations of racism in the company.
In exchange, WWE reportedly gave Del Rio a financial settlement. His non-compete clause was dropped, and he is now free to pursue other wrestling bookings outside of the WWE. The settlement apparently came about at the last minute. The report indicates that WWE at one point might have been asked to issue an apology for the allegedly racist comments made by company employees.
Del Rio reportedly agreed to parts of the written settlement agreement with regards to the financial issues and his non-compete clause, but he did not push for WWE issuing an apology.
The report goes on to state that WWE wanted the issue taken care out of concern for their Hispanic audience. WWE did not want to tied to any claims of racism against Hispanics.

WWE Reaches Settlement With Alberto Del Rio

Former WWE star and current AAA performer Alberto Del Rio posted the following onTwitter stating that he and WWE have agreed to a settlement that would allow Del Rio to take future bookings with anyone Del Rio wishes to work with:
"I want to announce the following joint statement by me and the WWE. Following my departure from WWE, an understanding was reached with regards to my future booking opportunities. We wish each other well in our respective future endeavors."
Lawyers of Del Rio and WWE had been going back and forth in recent months trying to reach an agreement after Del Rio's firing by WWE for slapping former WWE social media manager Cody Barbierri. Barbierri made a racially insensitive comment about Del Rio backstage. WWE stated that Del Rio had breached the morals clause that was in his WWE contract and due to the breach, WWE was attempting to stop Del Rio from wrestling for any other company until August 2015. It is said that with the new agreement between Del Rio and WWE, Del Rio can take future bookings and both sides will not disparage the other.

WWE Employee Involved In Del Rio Incident Gone

Cody Barbieri, who was the Manager of Social Media at WWE live events and was the employee involved in a backstage incident with former WWE star Alberto Del Rio, has left the company. WWE has posted a job opening for that same position this week. Barbieri had been with WWE since 2012 and the reason for his departure is unknown.
Del Rio confirmed publicly that he had slapped a WWE employee (Barbieri) backstage after he refused to apologize after making a comment that Del Rio found to be racist. The incident led to WWE releasing Del Rio, who is now working in Mexico with the AAA promotion as El Patron following his debut at the TripleMania event back in August.

Alberto Del Rio Close to Settlement With WWE on Lawsuit

According to Fight Network, Alberto Del Rio is close with WWE to a settlement on the lawsuit filed by the former star against the company. As you may recall, Del Rio filed suit against the company over his non-compete clause after he was fired in August for unprofessional conduct for slapping Cody Barbierri after Barbierri made a joke Del Rio felt was racist. The non-compete clause prohibits Del Rio from wrestling in the US for a year.
Del Rio filed suit against the company as a result, calling the clause unconstitutional. There are no details on what the settlement may entail.
Del Rio recently confirmed that he slapped Barbierri over a racist comment. A Reddit user who claims to be a former worker backstage for WWE claims that Barbierri has appeared on TV before, playing CM Punk’s doctor in December 2012 and January 2013. The Reddit user has previously revealed several scripts from WWE programming and other news proven to be legit.

Confusion Over Alberto Del Rio’s Puerto Rico Appearance Cleared Up

At one point, Alberto Del Rio was double-booked for appearances in Puerto Rico and Tijuana, Mexico on October 24. The situation has now been resolved, but WWC fans may not like it.
Del Rio will no longer appear at WWC’s anniversary show in Puerto Rico. Instead, Ricardo Rodriguez will replace him at the event. Ricardo will also be at tomorrow’s event to explain why Del Rio will no longer fight his scheduled opponent Ray Gonzalez. WWC was attempting to set up a match between Del Rio and Carlito for that weekend but it’s no longer possible.

Alberto Del Rio Likely to Appear in WWC

- It looks like Alberto Del Rio could soon appear on WWC TV in Puerto Rico as El Patron, his ring name for AAA in Mexico. You can check out a recap of the segment from WWC TV where El Patron was mentioned by Jose Perez and PWInsider:

At the end of today's WWC's TV show in Puerto Rico, there was a quick segment where 'El Magnate' Juan Manuel Ortega is on the phone with someone reminding him how much fun they had back at WrestleMania 30 weekend "drinking champagne."

He then refers to the person he's speaking to as "El Patrón" (the name Alberto Del Rio is now using in AAA in Mexico) and said that Patron told him to call him if he ever needed anything. Ortega then said he needs him to take care of someone here in Puerto Rico and will pick him up at the airport when he arrives. He closes the phone call again by saying, "Thank you very much 'Patrón'. Looking forward to seeing you this week."
