– According to the WON, Alberto El Patron’s deal with Lucha Undergound guarantees him $500,000 a year. That’s a very different kind of deal than most of the talent, who are working long-term contracts with low rates per match. He is still able to work independent and Mexico dates.
The site notes that he hasn’t done any real MMA training since he suffered his partially torn quad back in March. While he claims that he goes an offer from the UFC, sources in the company deny it. He did receive offers from several other promotions though.

New Details on Alberto El Patron’s Injury
As reported yesterday, Alberto El Patron suffered a torn quad during a match in Mexico last week. According to the Wrestling Observer, El Patron’s match against Matt Hardy for Northeast Wrestling on Friday was changed into a tag match and El Patron teamed with Hardy against the Young Bucks. The company shot an angle where the Bucks attacked Alberto until Hardy made the save.
El Patron had a minimal amount of ring time during the match and had his leg wrapped. He did take part in a meet & greet before the show.
Patron is expected to take some time off following the injury.

Alberto El Patron Appears On Lucha Underground
Alberto El Patron, the former Alberto Del Rio, made his Lucha Underground debut on tonight's episode in a backstage segment. Del Rio's first appearance in front of the crowd will take place next week. The Lucha Underground Twitter posted the following:

Was El Patron Injured Last Night?
There were rumors that Alberto El Patron (Alberto Del Rio) suffered a concussion after hitting the guard rail on a dive at last night's Ring of Honor live event in Dayton, Ohio. According to F4Wonline.com, Del Rio did not suffer a concussion but did take a bump on the rail. He was bleeding from the top of his head and from his mouth or nose. Alberto worked a match against former ROH Champion Roderick Strong and won with the cross armbreaker.

TV Title Match Set For ROH Annivearsy PPV
Ring of Honor issued the following press release to announce the TV Title match for their 13th Anniversary event, which will be broadcast on pay-per-view.
Rumors of a dream match have swirled on social media but now it is official. The legendary, 2nd generation Mexican wrestling star, Alberto El Patrón, will challenge Jay Lethal for the Ring of Honor World Television Championship live on Pay Per View at our 13th Anniversary event.
Upon his arrival in ROH, Alberto El Patrón wanted an opportunity to speak with his fans on ROH Television. Alberto proclaimed that he was finally among the best wrestlers on the planet and he wanted a shot at the most important title in professional wrestling, the ROH World Championship. Lethal and his manager, Truth Martini took major offense to this and Lethal interrupted Alberto, telling him he should have done his homework before coming to class. Lethal made it known that he is the measuring stick for the best professional wrestler on the planet and that his championship was the most important.
This meeting of two very different athletes in the prime of their careers is something that does not happen very often. This rivalry has taken on a personal twist as Lethal feels Alberto overlooked him as a champion. El Patrón believes Lethal has challenged his manhood, something for which Alberto will not stand.

Spoiler Details On Alberto Del Rio's Lucha Underground Debut
As noted, Alberto El Patron, the former Alberto Del Rio in WWE, made his Lucha Underground debut at the January 17th tapings in Los Angeles.
Del Rio came out to a major pop and was announced as the AAA Mega Heavyweight Champion. With the title in hand, he cut a promo and was attacked by former champion El Texano Jr., who was also making his debut. Former WWE star Chavo Guerrero joined in on the attack but Del Rio made a comeback and put Guerrero in the armbar.
El Patron's debut will likely air on the February 11th episode on the El Rey Network
Opinionated View- Del Rio vs. Chavo just thinking about it puts me to sleep. I know AAA is funding Lucha Underground but don't have him bring out the AAA belt. You just crowned the first Lucha Underground champion don't bring in another world title. Even if he doesn't defend having him have it just takes away from the prestige of the LU belt.

Alberto El Patron Set For Another Set of ROH Tapings
ROH has announced that Alberto El Patron is set to appear at the April 4th ROH TV tapings in San Antonio, TX. Del Rio is also set to appear for ROH on January 30th and 31st as well as March 1st and April 4th.
