Flashback Reviews WWF WrestleMania VIII

WrestleMania VIII is just kind of there. I don' t think anyone thinks of it as one of the better WrestleMania's  and I don't see the hate for it like IX or 13. The show features one on matches with Bret Hart and Roddy Piper and Ric Flair vs Randy Savage. But its just not really talked about outside of those matches and even than I don't think people really mention Mania eight. I think there are a few reasons for it this took place in 1992 at a time where the Hogan era was about to end but the Bret Hart hadn't really started yet. Plus a lot of little changes were going the Undertaker had just turned face for the first time and would turn heel again until 98. The Rockers had just broken up and Shawn Michaels was just getting started as a heel. And finally this was set up as Hulk Hogan's retirement show. Why they didn't come right out and say Hogan was retiring they did say it could be his farewell match  Well of course Hogan its 2014 when I'm writing this and rumors say Hogan is training for another match. This WrestleMania had a lot of changes done it originally it was going to be Hogan vs Flair for the WWF championship but with Hogan looking to move to Hollywood and give acting a go and other issues the card was rearranged. So Flair faced Randy Savage for the WWF world title and Hogan instead faced Sid Justice. This event is out of the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis IN. Our commentary team is Bobby Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon. Bobby by this point was done as a manger his only role being the consultant to Ric Flair.

We open with a video with Vince McMahon hyping up the double main events. And it's that cheesy way only Vince could do it. I'm sure younger fans don't recall the little habits Vince had as a commentator. Gorilla welcomes us to the show he and Bobby are up in booth you would use at a football game instead of being ringside. Howard Finkle introduces Reba McEntire to sing the National Anthem. Of Reba is a very successful country singer and do a great job here. Of course that might depend on how much you like country music. Monsoon says it was great. Bobby says "Tito's sister can belt one out. That's Arebah McEntire." Tito who at this point was in his El Matador gimmicks makes his entrance. Tito kisses Reba on the hand. Bobby keeps joking they are brother and sister.

El Matador Tito Santana vs Shawn Michael's with Sensational Sherri- Shawn's out to the oriental version of his song sung by Sherri. Both these guys had undergone recent gimmick changes. Shawn had turned heel and dropped the Rocker Gimmick. According to Shawn the orignial plan was he was going to be Sherri's boy toy. But because she liked him and understood he had to get over she was willing to make make it more about him being the one calling the shots. Tito has always just been Tito Santana that was getting stale so this wash attempt to give him so new life. I actually think they would have been better rolling the dice on a heel turn since Tito had been a face. Monsoon mentions Michaels has already challenged the winner of the Intercontinental Championship match. Bobby says Shawn will win it. Tito with a  right hand and flying cross body  after Shawn pisses him off. Headlock by Tito. Shawn tries to shove him off but Tito turns into a bulldog. Shawn with punch on a break. Tito clotheslines Shawn to the floor. Shawn gets on the apron but takes to long getting in so Tito pulls him back in with a headlock and into a takedown. Bobby and Monsoon fight over if Tito should have to break the hold. Shoulder block to the stomach by Michaels. Leapfrog the top by Michales but Tito sees a second one coming. Headlock takedown by Santana. Shawn turns it into a pin before title reverses it again. Shawn tries for a Belly to Back but Santana with another headlock takedown. Michaels goes for a back body drop but Tito gets him in a small package. Shawn tosses Tito over the top rope. Back breaker by Michaels seems like Shawn hit it more on the side than the back. Chin lock by Michaels. Santana fights to feet and elbows free. Tito runs the ropes but runs right into The Reverse Crescent Kick as Monsoon calls it. You might know it as the Superkick or Sweet Chin Music from HBK but this was before Shawn used it as his finisher. Bobby says "No tacos tonight." Shawn goes for a side suplex but Tito punches free. Flying forearm by Tito but Shawn goes to the floor. Tito rams Michaels face into the steeps. Shoulder tackle over the top by Santana. Inverted Atomic Drop by Santana. Flying forearm again but again Shawn goes to the floor. Tito tires to power slam Shawn back into the ring But Shawn holds the rope and Shawn lands on top for the win. I think there might have been some kind of botch since Monsoon claims there won't be a replay.Maybe Sherri was supposed to do something in the finish. Actually a very good opener. Shawn wasn't Mr. WrestleMania yet but he was getting there. Bobby says Shaw is the star of the 90's.

Mean Gene Oakerland introduces The Legion of Doom who come out with Paul Ellering who is making his WWF Debut. Bobby asks Monsoon if he knows he that is. Gene introduces Ellering as the LOD's manger. Ellering says this is the beginning of the end he has come not to get rich but to get even. Animal says LOD has beat everybody and talks about how Jimmy Hart cheated them out of the tag titles. Hawks says LOD has been like a run away train no one driving but its scarier now with Ellerning driving it. Hawk calls LOD is whole again. Paul says all the tag teams asks is going up worth the going down and that LOD is great because it dares to be great. And they earn there money by beating people up. Ellering says he has come to take LOD back to tag team titles. Hawk closes with "OH What a RUSH!" Good segment. LOD always had that one of a kind way of doing there promos. If you know who Paul Ellering was you got excited to see him back with LOD if you didn't you got the feeling this was a big deal. Sadly WWF blew this they never really got LOD close to the titles and than along came Rocco.

Sean Mooney interview Jake the Snake Roberts. Sean asks about rumors Jake plans to bring a snake a ring. Roberts says WWF Jack Tuney won't let him. They recap Roberts slamming a casket lid on Undertaker's hand and than hitting the DDT on Paul Bearer and hitting Taker with a chair during the Funeral Parlor.Roberts talks about how he trapped the Undertaker and the DDT is where it lies. Roberts says he will put the final nail in the coffin Trust Him. A solid interview by Roberts.

Jake The Snake Roberts vs The Undertaker with Paul Bearer- These two had been allies in 1991 when Roberts turned heel. But the feeling was Taker had run out of things to do as a heel so he turned face in 92 and stopped Roberts from attacking Miss Elizabeth and Randy Savage. Undertaker no sells Roberts punches. Finally a running right hand sends Undertaker to the outside. Taker pulls Roberts out and tosses him into the steel post. Roberts with a knee lift as Undertake climbs into the ring. Bobby says "Death never takes a holiday" leading to Monsoon's "Will you stop." Roberts tries for a irish whip but take an upper cut and than irish whip. Undertaker chokes Roberts. Heenan claims Bearer got the urn by urning it. More choking by Undertaker. Bobby points out the referee isn't counting. Elbow drop by Undertaker. Leaping clothesline by The Undertaker. Tombstone attempt by Undertaker but Jake reverses into the DDT but doesn't pin. The Undertaker sit up and grabs a choke. Knee by Roberts than the short clothesline Undertake sits up again. A second DDT again Jake doesn't cover. Roberts goes after Bearer. Undertaker sits up again and goes after Jake. Tombstone Piledriver on the floor. Undertaker rolls Jake back in the ring and covers him for the win. Boring match way to much punching and choking. Plus it was obvious Undertaker was going to sit up since Roberts never followed up the DDT.

Mean Gene interview Intercontinental Champion Roddy Piper and challenger Bret Hart. Gene says this is the first time these two have ever wrestled. Piper talks about how much he loves Bret's family and how he's known Bret since they were kids and takes a few shot at Bret. Bret's finally had enough when Piper tries to pinch him on the check. Bret says he wants to win back the title. Decent segment not one of Piper better promos as he rambled a bit to much and well it was Bret Hart talking. From what I can tell it stretched truth. The two are very good friends but didn't meat until they adults.

Intercontinental Championship Roddy Piper © vs Bret Hart- Bret had won the IC title at summer slam but during a contract issue had dropped the IC title to the Mountie. At the Royal Rumble Piper won the belt. This was meant to be face vs face although Piper seemed to be implying he could go heel. Piper comes out with a dead serious look on his face. Monsoon mentions this is the only gold Hot Rod has ever had. Eye to eye start down to start. Heenan says "Two ugly people looking at each other." Arm drag by Piper. Hart with an arm drag. Piper with a single leg into a go behind. Hart sends Piper to the outside breaking a waste lock. Greco roman knuckle lock into the test of strength . Hart revers a Piper arm wringer. Piper acts like he is going to the eyes but instead chops at Hart. Piper finally rams Hart head into the turnbuckle to get free but Hart still don't' let go. Hart takes Piper down into a hammer lock. Running dropkick by Hart but he appears to have injured himself on the way down. The referee won't let Piper attack so Bret gets a small package for two. Piper slaps Hart in the face. Piper catches Hart on a cross body but winds up being back to far and they both go over the ropes. I can't be sure but I think it was a botch with Piper take one step to many backwards. Piper holds the ropes for Bret to climb back i Bret isn't sure he can trust him. Piper gives Bret a chance to fix his shin guard but than nails upside the head with a sucker punch. Piper with a bulldog. Bret breaks the bleeding policy and blades. Piper with a  knee raise and falls over as hell. Heenan claims he had his money on Piper the whole time. Sunset flip by Hart get two. Series of punches by Piper knocks Hart down. Bret fires back and than a flying forearm that sends Piper outside the ring. Bad looking double clothesline knocks both men down. Piper up first and climbs the ropes. Hart is up and crotches Piper before throwing him down to the mat face first. Atomic drop by Hart than the snap suplex. Leg sweep by Hart that Monsoon calls a neck breaker. Back Breaker by Hart. Piper blocks the sharp shooter so Hart drops an elbow but not from the second rope meaning for once Hart actually varied up his repetitive move set but only for  second as he than goes for the second rope drop. Piper gets a boot up and Bret hit it. Exchange of punches on the knees. Headlock attempt by Hart but Piper shoves him off and there goes the referee. Clothesline by Piper sends Bret out of the ring. Piper rams Hart into the ring steps and sends him back the ring. Piper grabs the ring bell. Piper stands over Bret as Bobby and Monsoon argue about tit. Piper looks out at the fans as Monsoon urges him to remember the old saying "What the hell use the bell." Piper tosses the bell away. Sleeper by Piper but Hart uses the ropes to kick back and land on top for the pin and the win. Good match but some real rough spots first the held onto the arm ringer way to long and Piper selling got goofy at times.

Post match Piper snatches the title belt and than gives it to Bret. Piper pulls Bret up and straps the title on Hart. The two men embrace. Decent segment but I think they could have gotten more out of having Piper go heel. But Piper was in and out at this time so that mussed of kept him face. Bobby says he has a big surprise and introduces us to Lex Lugar who is the newest member of the World Bodybuilding Federation. Lugar says it's everyone's pleasure to listen to Bobby and insults Monsoon. Lugar is in his Atlanta home and talks about what a thrill it is for the fans. Bobby asks who Lex will be competing against? Lex talks about how he wasn't allowed to be at the first WBF show. Lex runs down the list of the guys in the WBF but none of them have the same body as him. Bobby asks Lex to give us a look at the body. Lugar flexes a little. Lugar tells us he will see us June 13th. The WBF was Vince's attempt to take over the world of Body Building it died do a combo of Vince's legal troubles and not making money. Lugar was still had some issues with his WCW contract and couldn't wrestle for Vince so he was going to be part of the WBF. How ever after this show Lugar was injured in a motorcycle wreck and by the time he was healed up the WBF was dead and the hold ups from his WCW deal were over so he just debuted as a wrestler anyway.

Backstage we see the Mountie and the Nasty Boys and than the Repo Man runs it. Typical heel promos for the upcoming eight man tag. Than we go to Sgt. Slaughter, Jim Dugan, Big Bossman , and Virgil. Just you typical face promo nothing to special from anyone. The only thing of note was Virgil was wearing a face protector to protect his injured noise. The Fink introduces the guest ring announcer Ray Combs who was the host of Family Feud at the time. Everyone is already in the ring. Combs claims he has a survey and man does this segment drag on. The jokes just aren't funny finally the heels go after Combs who bails out.

The Mountie, The Repo Man, and the Nasty Boys with Jimmy Hart vs Sgt. Slaughter, Virgil, Jim Dugan, and the Big Bossman- Slaughter the victim of the Mania curse last year he main evented this years he's in a pop corn match. the faces go after the heels when they are attacking at Combs. Four man clotheslines takes out all the heel. Repo Man hits by a series of clotheslines by the faces. Bobby has a special announcement Shawn Michaels has left the building. Shaw who's a big Elvis fan thought would get him good heat. If nothing else I just found it funny when ever they did it. Saggs and Duggan in the ring. Duggan does the HOOO and gets nailed int eh back by Saggs. Awful looking clothesline by Duggan than an atomic drop. Tag to Slaughter but Saggs thumbs the eyes and tags in Knobs. Clothesline than a gut wrench by Slaughter followed by the Double stomp. Bossman tags in and this a big boot and than a wind up punch. Bossman charges in the corner but Knobs and tags in Repo Man. Shoulder block by Bossman but the running splash misses.Repo keeps jumping on Bossman's back so finally Bossman flips over so Repo nuts get punched. Heenan says "Oh uh he just repo'ed himself." Tag to Virgil who comes in with a dropkick and than flying cross body gets two. Mountie in and nails Virgil illegally. Belly to back suplex by Repo. The faces try to come in so the referee stops them allowing the heels two team up on Virgil. Saggs in with a knee to gut. Gut wretch by Saggs gets two. The Mountie tags in and tries to comes off the second rope. Bossman just climbs into the ring and catches him and than hits a spine buster. Everyone jumps in the ring and we got a brawl. The heel pull off Virgil's' mask and the Nasty Boys for the the holding punch but Virgil ducks so Saggs nails Knobs. Virgil pins Knobs for the win even though as Bobby points out The Mountie is legal. Monsoon says it' doesn't matter.  Very forgettable match use meant to be a catch you breath moment after the IC title match.

Sean Mooney is with Mr. Perfect and Ric Flair. Perfect has a large piece of paper with him witch he claims is the prized photo of Ms. Elizabeth witch they will put on the big screen. Flair says this is Savage's attempt to defend the honor of his wife and take the title. Flair says he will give Savage the worst beating of his life and than he Mr. Perfect will show the picture. Finally Flair offers Liz one last shot at Space Mountian. Decent Flair promo. Mean Gene is outside Savage's dressing him but tells us Savage isn't granting interviews. Gene speculates what could be going though Savage's mind.

World Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Championship Ric Flair with Mr. Perfect © vs Randy Savage- Flair had won the WWF title at the Royal Rumble. After Savage was named number one contender Flair started to claim he and Elizabeth had been lovers. He also claimed to have a centerfold style picture of her. Massive pop for the Macho man as he runs down to the ring. Flair bails out of the ring but Savage gives chase. Flair heads up the aisle but Savage gets a hold of him and starts to bounce Flair's head off the floor. Perfect pulls Savage off and drags him to ringside. Savage gives chase to Perfect. Back in ring Savage knocks Flair down twits a clothesline than a knee to the back. Mounted punches by Savage. Savage no sells an atomic drop. Back body drop by Fair sends Savage over the top rope and to the floor. Chops by Flair before he rams the back of Savage into the ring. Flair stomps at Savage back in the ring. Chops by Flair than a vertical suplex. Belly to back suplex by Flair gets two. Savage whipped into the corner back first. Big chop by Flair knocks Savage down the knee drop. Savage rolls to the outside. Flair follows him out and again drives the back into the ring. Heenan asks Monsoon to give him a "WOOO!" Flair suplexs Savage back into the ring and gets two. Another whip into the corner back first by Flair. Chops by Flair but Savage punches back until Flair thumbs the eyes. Neck breaker by Savage. Seres of punches by Savage that Flair stops by thumbing the eye. Flair to the top rope and gets power slammed off by the Macho Man. Back body drop by Savage than some clotheslines. Flair flip over the turnbuckle Flair runs the ropes and jumps off another turnbuckle. Awful looking clothesline by Savage as Flair comes down. Savage clotheslines Flair to the floor. Double Ax handle off the top to the floor by Savage. Flair hits the barricade. Savage rams Flair into the guardrail, than the steps, and ring post. Flair breaks the no bleeding policy and blades. Of course since he Savage were much more obvious about it Flair got yelled at by Vince after the show. Suplex on the floor by Savage. Back in the ring Savage pounds on Flair.Double ax handle off the top by Savage gets two. Power slam by Savage. Savage climbs for the elbow and hits it. Savage covers but Perfect very obviously IE even the referee should it climbs in the ring and pulls Savage off the pin. Savage goes after perfect.  The referee tries to stop Savage. Referee goes down and Perfect tosses a weapon to Flair. Flair nails Savage with the weapon and than tosses it back to Perfect. Flair covers but Savage kicks at two. Flair pounds at Savage and chokes him. Perfect nails Savage with a chair when the referee's back is turned. Miss Elizabeth makes her way to ring side we see several WWF officials try to stop her most notably a young Shane McMahon. Flair cannonballs down on Savages's leg. Knee breaker by Flair and the figure four is locked in. They keep cutting back to Liz and the officials witch is killing the spot. Perfect helps Flair apply more pressure on Savages' legs.Savage reveres the hold. Flair goes for a power slam but Savage with a small package gets two. Flair chops and kicks at Savage and yells at Elizabeth "Its for your baby."  Another knee breaker by Flair. Savage with a punch and than a school boy while holding the trunks for the win. Heenan asks "What the hell is going on here?" And I agree the face wins via holding the tights? Maybe Flair didn't want to drop the belt clean, but if that's than there are other ways to end the match. Hell have one of Perfect's attempts to interfere backfire and cost Flair. Have Flair pull Liz into the ring and she low blows him. Its a good match but it get repetitive at times. Savage was wearing a top witch kind of killed the the sound effect of Flair's chops and the officials trying to convince Elizabeth to leave seemed strange to me and because they kept cutting back to them talking to her it killed the effect of having Savage locked in Flair's finisher.

Post match Savage and Elizabeth celebrate as Flair screams at the referee. Flair grabs Elizabeth and yells at her. Flair kisses her and she slaps him. Savage goes after Flair and the officials pull them apart. The official hold Savage down and that allows Flair and perfect to keep attack him. And they just hold him down for a second they hold him down for a few minutes. This segment really kills the special moment of having the WWF title change hands especially with Savage winning the title for a second time. Finally Flair and perfect leave and Savage is announced as the new champion. Pyro goes off as Savage hold the belt up and embraces Elizabeth. Backstage Sean Mooney tries to interview Ric Flair and Perfect. Perfect rants about Savage holding the trunks. Bobby Heenan runs in freaking out. Mooney asks about Flair's cheating. Flair says Savage will walk around claiming to be champion and calls Elizabeth a Jezebel. Flair says he won't' cry over spilled milk he will reassemble the team. Flair challenges Savage to it again. Perfect claims Flair has never taken a short cut while Savage just did. Heenan yells Savage doesn't deserve to have the title. Mean Gene is with Macho Man and Elizabeth. Gene asks about holding the tights. Savage says he doesn't care eh says the title is what makes Flair ticks. Savage says he took a piece of Flair and he wants the rest of him. Gene asks Elizabeth if she been vindicated but Savage interrupts him. Decent promos to set up the feud wasn't over yet. Sadly Savage's and Elizabeth's real life marriage in real trouble at this point. She left him latter that year.

We than get a recap of the road to Hogan vs Justice. We see the press conference where Hogan was named number one contender over Sid. We get Sid ranting about Jack Tuney passing him over and than Justice abandoning Hogan during a tag match with Ric Flair and The Undertaker. Justice destroying the set of the Barber Shop and if you want a funny visual just get a look at Sid covered in baby powder yelling for Hogan. We also get clips of Justice destroying various jobbers. Decent video although Hogan was off TV so much at this point we didn't get any clips of him answering back to Sid.

We see a group of Lumbee Indians doing a war dance before the next match. Sean Mooney interviews Rick Martel. Martel says the indians have no class, no styles, no sense of fashion and the he will have to disinfect the ring with arrrogance. Martel claims Tatanka is out scaling tickets.

Tatanka vs Rick Martel- I don't think there was any storyline here with these two other than Tatanaka's undefeated streak. Really this was another popcorn match to give the crowd a chance to regain catch there breath after the WWF championship match. Strange Martel enters first yo would think Tatanka would have and maybe done the war dance with his tribe. Martel drives some knees into Tatanka's stomach. Hip toss by Tatanka and some power slams. Bobby and Monsoon fight over the previous match. Big chops by Tatanka. Martel into the ring post. Tatanka blocks an arm drag so Martel trips him. Martel tosses Tatanka over the the top rope. Heenan claims Tatanka is one one of the Cleveland Indians. Back breaker by Martel. Martel to the top rope but Tatanka shakes them. Back body drop by Tatanka. Tomahawk Chop connects. Tatanka goes for a back body drop again but Martel sees it coming and kicks him. Power slam by Martel. Monsoon keeps calling Martel Flair but does finally correct himself. Crossbody for the win by Tatanka. Decent match but it was just a popcorn match. Monsoon and Heenan do put over how impressive it is for the new comer to pick up a win over Martel.

Mooney interview WWF tag team champions Money Inc. Hart claims he knows all of The Natural Disaster Weaknesses. Evil laugh by DiBiase he warns the challengers not to write checks you don't' have the funds to cover. IRS says it's time for them to pay up. Mean Gene is with The Natural Disasters. Gene asks about Jimmy Hart. Typone says the have a surprise for for Hart. Earthquake says the time for talking is done.

WWF Tag Team Championship Money Incorporated Ted DiBiase and IRS with Jimmy Hart © vs The Natural Disaster Earthquake and Typhoon- Back story is Natural Disasters were set to get a tag title shot but there manager Jimmy Hart betrayed them and gave the shot to Money Inc. who won the titles from LOD. IRS and Earthquake start us off. IRS tags to DiBiase before any contract is made. Earthquake tosses DiBiase into the corner and than he does it again and a third time. Top wrist lock by DiBiase but Earthquake powers off him off. Big knee by DiBiase and some punches. Clones on both members of Money INc. The Disasters ram IRS and DiBiase's heads together and than head to the out side to consult with Jimmy Hart. IRS in and wrings the arm of Earthquake who revers its Tag to Typhoon to hip tosses IRS. Typhoon rams IRS' head into the corner a good ten times. Running corner splash misses tag to DiBiase. Irish whip by Typhoon sends DiBiase into the corner. DiBiase ducks a charge and Typhoon very awkwardly goes over the ropes. IRS send Typhoon into the steps. IRS tags into the match double team clothesline by Money Inc. Tag back to DiBiase who comes in with punches before tagging to IRS. Double team back elbow by the tag team champions. Front face lock by IRS. Typhoon tags in Earthquake but the referee doesn't see it. DiBiase off the second rope with an elbow drop on Typhoon. Cover by DiBiase gets two. Double Clothesline and both men are down. Tag to IRS and Earthquake. Earthquake works over IRS and hits a big clothesline than hits one on DiBiase. All four men in. Money Inc whipped into each other. DiBiase sent to the floor. Big Splash by Typhoon on IRS. Earthquake goes for a splash but Jimmy Hart pulls IRS out of the ring. The tag team champion grabs the belts and head for the back to get counted out. Ok match but a BS ending it's not like The Natural Disaster were down and not moving why not chase after them. I could get if IRS and DiBiase ran out buy they walked out.

Mane Gene is Brutus The Barber Beefcake. Gene talks about the boating accident that has taken Beefcake out of the ring. Sadly that's not a story line Beefcake was injured in a boating accident that cost him a great deal of time in the ring but he was still appearing on screen for the WWF. Gene talks about how Beefcake and Hogan are good friends. Beefcake says he's seen Hogan up high and down low. Says Hogan is a giving man. Beefcake says he behind Hogan last match or not and that Hulkamania will live forever. Just a time killer promo.

Owen Hart vs Skinner- Kind of strange they would put three matches between the title match and the main event but I assume they were just really worried about the fans not reacting to Sid vs Hogan after a title change. We don't see Skinner's intro. Owen is his awful early 90's baggy pants and neon jacket gear. Owen flips into the ring and Skinner spits something rich tin this face bluing him. Shoulder breaker by Skinner. Monsoon and Heenan are still talking about the Beefcake promo so no mention of the spit. Hart hung up in the ropes. Inverted DDT by Skinner gets two. Headbuts by Skinner. Skin the Cat by Owen Roll up by Own for the win. I like both guys but this match did not need to be here. Does anyone remember it? Owen nails a drop kick on Skinner I think it was meant to be Skinner was coming at him but the camera shot missed most of Skinner moving.

Mean Gene is with Sid Justice and Harvey Wipplemen . Sid yells at Gene to shut up. Sid says this will be Hogan's last match. Sid says he is the master and Hogan is "but the learner… but the learner." They toss to a video of Vince asking Hogan if this is his last match. Hogan says everyone has been asking him is he is going to retire. Hogan says thinking about his last match chills him to the bone. Hogan says he's the only one that can decided if this is it but he won't know until he comes out of the ring. Vince says Thank you to Hogan and shakes his hand. Back with Sid he again tells Gene to shut up. Sid says the only thing to remember is Sid ended Hulkamania. Sid does his "I rule the world the line." Yeah you typical BS boring promo by Sid. Why do people keep wanting this guy to come back. The Fink introduces Harvey Whippleman Whippleman yells that its Doctor Harvey Whippleman part of that stupid never ending feud the Fink and Whippleman had in the mid 90's. Harvey introduces for Sid Justice calling him the greatest man in the World Wrestling Federation.

Hulk Hogan vs Sid Justice with Harvey Whippleman- When Sid joined the WWF he was an alley of Hogan's. According to some reports Vince was set to push him as Hulk's successor. However Hogan had eliminated him during the 92 Royal Rumble but Sid than grabbed onto Hogan allowing Flair to win the match and the title. Sid than turned heel and walked out on Hogan after he was named number 1 contender to Flair title. Hogan than in storyline decided to face Sid instead. Seems strange we don't get a Hogan promo before the match but from what i have heard things weren't easy backstage (But that could be wrong like so many other reports) Sid jumps Hogan as he climbs into the ring. Sid pounds on Hogan. Sid with an irish whip sends Hogan into the ropes than he drops down. Hogan stops himself and punches Sid when he gets back up. More punches sends Sid to the outside. Sid tries to get back in the ring but Hogan keeps catching him. Finally a clothesline but Sid down allowing Hogan to finish his intro with the shirt tearing and ear cupping. The bell finally rings when Sid is still on the outside. Face to face stare down Sid with a knee to the gut and kicks Hogan in the chest a few times. Sid digs the fingers into Hogan's face. Another kick by Sid and Hogan drops to the canvas. The whip and drop down with Hogan punch Sid spot again. Sid bails out and starts to walk up the aisle. Sid gets back in the ring. Sid calls for a test of strength. Hogan looks to the sky and than locks up. Sid powers Hogan to his knees. Hogan starts to fight up but Sid powers him back down. Hogan powers back to a standing position  but Sid Still and control and knee Hogan again. Running clothesline by Hogan. Whippleman distracts Hogan  allowing Sid to hit a choke slam and it's one of those chokes slams where the guy barley gets off the ground. Sid poses in the ring and calls Harvey up the apron  and talks to the camera mocking the fans. Sid pounds on Hogan's back. Chick to the chest sends Hogan to the outside. Whippleman distracts the referee allowing Justice and hits Hogan with Whippleman's black bag. Sid sends Hogan back into the ring. Nerve pinch by Sid and he keeps it locked on forever I get using a rest hold but do one better than pinching a guy on the shoulder. The referee starts to check Hogan's arm. Hogan starts to Hulk up and elbows free of the nerve pinch. Sid with a side slam. Power bomb by Sid but Hogan kicks at two and starts doing the full Hulk Up. Punches by Hogan and rams Sid's head into the turn buckle. Big Boot but Sid doesn't go down. Hogan call for a slam and hits it. Leg Drop by Hogan. Sid kicks  and Whippleman jumps in the ring so the referee calls it off. Now folks there has been a lot of speculation about what happened over the years. A popular story on the internet is "Sid was trying to screw the company." I don't buy that since I think Vince would never brought him back if that was the case. It appears Papa Shango missed a run in and that is why Sid kicked out as Whippleman jumped in the ring. Plus Whippleman didn't do anything to Hogan so there is no real reason for a DQ. As for the match itself. I'm not fan. I could never get into Sid and this was a battle of a lumbering giant and Hogan that didn't care this time out. It's pretty boring and pretty paint by numbers and I'm actually glade this wasn't Hogan's last match as it would have been an awful way to end it.

Post match Hogan picks up Whippleman tosses him at Sid who catches him. Papa Shango makes his way to the ring. Hogan and Sid exchange punches. Shango attacks Hogan and ties him into the ropes. The Heels work over Hogan. Sid goes to grab a chair as Music starts to play. The Ultimate Warrior who hadn't been since Summer Slam the year before hits the ring. Clotheslines to Shango. Sid hits Warrior with a chair but Warrior no sells it. Hogan grabs the chair and the heels clear out. Hogan is announced the winner via DQ. Warrior hugs Hogan and than holds his Hand up. Hogan just appears confused or pissed that Shango messed up the planned finish. Hogan get a sign from the a fan saying Bring back the Warrior. Hogan and Warrior do the Hogan posses. Heenan asks where the Warrior came from? And we close with Warrior and Hogan playing to the fans as Heenan asks "What else can happen?" Monsoon says "We will never forget this." Its actually not a bad way to end the show if nothing else the fans were thrilled to see Warrior again and Hogan was very over with the WWF fans.

Yeah I can see why this one is not that well remembered even the two best matches on the card are just very good. Seems like there is an awful lot of filler on this card as well. Hell you could have cut the eight man tag and Owen Hart vs Skinner match and no one would notice outside of the show being shorter than usual. It's not a bad show but it does make sense why this is ranked middle of the back among wrestling fans. I recommended it only if your a total completest and want to see every WrestleMania.
