USA Network Reportedly Upset With WWE Over Tough Enough

USA Network officials are said to be upset with WWE over Tough Enough. First, they feel like the popularity of pro wrestling is going down because of the recent drop in ratings.
They also think that the format of Tough Enough being taped and live doesn’t work because the judges don’t have enough time to make fair decisions. Fans are only given a few minutes to vote instead of a day or a week. USA believes this leads to poor word-of-mouth.
USA enjoyed the last season of the show because they felt Steve Austin was a “dynamic presence” with enough charisma to carry the season. It’s believe that Chris Jericho “comes off as a game show host”. USA doesn’t blame Jericho, they feel that it’s because of the format of the show. They think the show itself looks like a game show instead of a reality TV competition.
USA is also worried that the last two winners of Tough Enough, Daniel Puder and Andy Leavine, were released by WWE before ever doing anything. They feel like winning the show means nothing, which is why fans don’t seem to care.

Opinionated View- Dear USA,

You knew all of this before you agreed to air the show. You knew the winners had been cut hell not just Puder and Leavine but all the winner have been let go. Hell all you had to do was watch old seasons to see how boring it was. I'm also going to assume WWE didn't just decided to do this format with out giving you an idea that was plan. Your like the football players that blew there hands up don't come crying now that you light the fuse.

USA Network Wants Smackdown to Strengthen Their Ratings

The Wrestling Observer has more details on the recent news of Smackdown making the move to the USA Network from SyFy. The move was done to help strengthen the ratings for USA and maintain its position as the No. 1 cable network on TV. Raw does well in the ratings, and Smackdown is also reportedly the most watched show on SyFy. However, USA has reportedly had trouble keeping its No. 1 spot as of late, hence the decision for Smackdown to make the programming move.

The new season of WWE Tough Enough will also be broadcast on USA. Per how much NBC-Universal pays WWE for its programming, they break even with how much WWE content makes them in ad revenue.

New Details On Smackdown’s Move To USA

Variety has a story about WWE moving Smackdown from Syfy to USA, including why the move is happening.
The article states that the reason Smackdown is moving is because USA wants to increase their live or live-action programming. USA Network President Chris McCumber said that USA is moving away from its original programs to get a millennial audience. NBCUniversal executives felt that WWE programs are a better fit on one single network.
Meanwhile, WWE/USA’s “For The Hero In All Of Us” campaign is designed to make WWE more acceptable to advertisers who have been against the brand in the past.

USA Bringing Back Tough Enough

At today's Critics Association winter press tour event in Los Angeles, USA Network president Chris McCumber announced that WWE Tough Enough, which aired on MTV from 2001-2003 and on USA in 2011 with host "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in 2011, would be making its return to the network according to a report by Mike Johnson. McCumber noted that the show would be under a new format that would bring new live and interactive elements. Tough Enough had been in discussion to return last year on the WWE Network, but budget cuts made by WWE last year held off the return. WWE has yet to make an official announcement on the return of Tough Enough to the USA Network as of this writing.

Opinionated View- FUCK not tough enough. It's a boring show. I was hoping it was finally dead for good after they didn't have enough money to do it on the Network but I guess the managed to fool USA network.

USA Holding WWE Week 12/15

WWE & USA Network issued the following press release today:

MONDAY NIGHT RAW on USA is the most-watched, regularly scheduled, year-round program on cable, airing a live three-hour block every Monday night, 52 weeks a year. RAW has been a cable mainstay for more than 20 years and is consistently a top ten show on television. The three-hour block on USA averages 2.12MM P18-49, 2.18MM P25-54 and 4.73MM total viewers P2+. RAW and SMACKDOWN have reached 53.1MM total viewers P2+ 2014 to-date.

Date for NBC Airing of WWE Tribute to the Troops

Mike Johnson is reporting that WWE is scheduled to air their annual Tribute to the Troops special on the NBC Network on Saturday, December 28 at 9PM ET. The show will be a 1-hour special, while a two-hour special will air on the USA Network. There has been no scheduled air date for the USA airing of Tribute to the Troops.

 Brooke Magnum and Michelle Schexanyder, who star in the new USA Network reality show, Summer Camp, are set to appear on tonight's episode of RAW.
