USA Network Reportedly Upset With WWE Over Tough Enough

USA Network officials are said to be upset with WWE over Tough Enough. First, they feel like the popularity of pro wrestling is going down because of the recent drop in ratings.
They also think that the format of Tough Enough being taped and live doesn’t work because the judges don’t have enough time to make fair decisions. Fans are only given a few minutes to vote instead of a day or a week. USA believes this leads to poor word-of-mouth.
USA enjoyed the last season of the show because they felt Steve Austin was a “dynamic presence” with enough charisma to carry the season. It’s believe that Chris Jericho “comes off as a game show host”. USA doesn’t blame Jericho, they feel that it’s because of the format of the show. They think the show itself looks like a game show instead of a reality TV competition.
USA is also worried that the last two winners of Tough Enough, Daniel Puder and Andy Leavine, were released by WWE before ever doing anything. They feel like winning the show means nothing, which is why fans don’t seem to care.

Opinionated View- Dear USA,

You knew all of this before you agreed to air the show. You knew the winners had been cut hell not just Puder and Leavine but all the winner have been let go. Hell all you had to do was watch old seasons to see how boring it was. I'm also going to assume WWE didn't just decided to do this format with out giving you an idea that was plan. Your like the football players that blew there hands up don't come crying now that you light the fuse.

Tough Enough Returns Tonight on USA Network

The debut of the newest season of WWE Tough Enough takes place tonight at 8PM ET on the USA Network. The show is hosted by Chris Jericho, features judges Hulk Hogan, Paige and Daniel Bryan and trainers Booker T, Lita and Billy Gunn. Show consists of 13 people, 7 men and 6 women, competing for 1 WWE contract for each gender.
After Tough Enough, the "Tough Talk" live recap show will air on the WWE Network with The Miz as host.
The show replays later this week on E!, Oxygen and Bravo this Friday.

More Tough Enough Seasons Planned Beyond This One?

– WrestleZone has obtained the email that was sent to those who were not among the finalists for the new season of Tough Enough. The email suggests that the applicants submit for “future seasons” of the show, suggesting that this might not be a one-and-done for WWE and USA.
The email, which is from Triple H, reads as follows:

More Details on Tough Enough’s New Format

New details on the new WWE Tough Enough that will air on USA. The show will air on Tuesdays with footage shot during the week, airing during a live show in front of a studio audience. The footage will include the training and in-house drama a la The Ultimate Fighter.
Jericho’s hosting gig will be more of a Carson Daly/Ryan Seacrest deal, as opposed to what Steve Austin did. Hulk Hogan, Paige and Daniel Bryan will serve as panelists, mentors and judges while Booker T, Billy Gunn and Lita will be training the contestants.
The site notes that WWE is trying hard to recruit certain potential cast members, including Tessa Blanchard. They also wanted to get Moose, but he’s signed a new deal with Ring of Honor. WWE is telling people that they are recruiting that they will be guaranteed a spot on the show, although the actual winner will not be pre-determined and will be completely based on fan voting.

Chris Jericho shares Tough Enough details

Chris Jericho spoke about promoting Tough Enough during his latest podcast. "It's a brand new version of Tough Enough," Jericho said while saying what he wanted to tell the media at the NBC Upfronts red carpet event. "It's got a whole new overhaul. It's like 'The Voice' combined with 'Dancing with the Stars.' I'm the host of the show, I'm not a trainer. I'm kind of like the Carson Daily or the Ryan Seacrest or the Tom Bergeron of Tough Enough.

WWE Actively Recruiting for Tough Enough

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE is actively recruiting for the new season of Tough Enough, which airs on the USA Network starting in June. The site reports that the company is looking for all different types of talent, including some with professional wrestling experience and some without.
The site adds that some of the talent that gets cast could be recognizable names in the wrestling business. One European wrestler was asked to tryout initially for WWE, but was later told that they wanted him to try out for Tough Enough instead. One indy wrestler–unnamed in the report–has been told he’s “pretty much promised” a spot on the show.
WWE has been working with some big casting companies, who have done work for reality shows in the past. One of the companies is recruiting college and pro sports athletes.

More Details On The Return Of Tough Enough

The new season of WWE Tough Enough will have an “updated” feel to it when it begins airing in June. WWE originally wanted to tape episodes two months in advance, but now the show will air soon after each episode is taped. There will be several live and interactive elements. Fan voting is possible. Live segments on USA, social media and the WWE Network are also likely.
Chris Jericho has been rumored as the host of the new show, but he said he has not talked with WWE about replacing Steve Austin. He also has a history of keeping secrets from fans so it’s unknown.

Update on Casting and Payouts for New Season of Tough Enough

- The Wrestling Observer reports that the producers for the next upcoming season of Tough Enough are looking at people between the ages of 18 and 30 for the new cast members. The new season is still in early development at the moment.
Talents are said to be paid $100 per day for filming.

Backstage News on Tough Enough

The new season of WWE Tough Enough on the USA Network will reportedly include NXT wrestlers who have not appeared on TV yet, according to verified WWE insider MetsFan4Ever on Reddit.WWE officials were looking at some of the talents at the recent Performance Center tryout camp about possibly being on the show. Apparently officials from the USA Network were also interested in some of the participants of the tryout camp being on the show. WWE NXT reportedly has the right to offer a contract to any member of the camp first and if the deal is passed on, USA can them offer them a spot on Tough Enough. It's said that one third-generation wrestler at the tryouts was already offered a spot on Tough Enough but they have to wait and see if WWE offers them a contract for NXT first. MetsFan didn't mention this but that talent is rumored to be Tessa Blanchard, daughter of WWE Hall of Famer Tully Blanchard but that hasn't been confirmed.

Opinionated View- Well I much rather have it be trained wrestlers instead of just joe blow off the street. But last tough enough had guys from developmental including the winner Andy Levine. For those that don't remember Levine don't worry after winning he went back to than FCW and was quickly released.

We noted before that Bill DeMott was expected for the return of WWE Tough Enough on the USA Network and there is indeed talk within WWE that DeMott will be a part of the new season. Apparently some but not all of the footage for the show will be filmed at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, so it's possible the other NXT trainers appear on the show as well. It's also been reported that the new Tough Enough season will see a different format. Talents will still be living in a house and competing for a WWE contract but the show may be more like an American Idol type reality TV show where they do voting and live segments to announce who has been eliminated.

The Wrestling Observer reported some new details on the upcoming return of Tough Enough to USA. The new season will reportedly debut after WrestleMania 31.
WWE is currently in talks to film the show at the WWE Performance Center. There were previously plans to have all the NXT Superstars and developmental talent work on the show. However, per the report, the new season might have a mix of those talents plus whoever answers the casting call, or none of the existing developmental talent for WWE.
As previously reported, the new season will feature a new format for the show. It will include some live and interactive elements. Bill DeMott’s name been brought up for the show, but he is not yet confirmed to be a trainer. Bill DeMott previously posted on Twitter that he is preparing for the new season. As noted, WWE Tough Enough will be returning on the USA Network soon.
The belief is that the new season will begin airing some time after WrestleMania 31. It's also believed that the show will be filmed in Florida at the WWE Performance Center.

Before Tough Enough plans were nixed last summer, the idea was to have all WWE developmental talents on the show but based on the casting call issued this week, pro wrestling experience is not a requirement for the new season. It was noted that this season will have a different format than previous Tough Enough seasons. We do know that the new season will have some live elements to it.
There's also no word yet on who the Tough Enough coaches will be. Bill DeMott indicated on Twitter that he will be on the show but that's all we've heard. WWE had planned for Steve Austin to host the Tough Enough show they wanted to film in 2014 but his name has not been attached to this new season yet.

WWE Issues Statment on The Return of Tough Enough

WWE issued the following on Thursday evening.

"USA Network President Chris McCumber has announced that groundbreaking WWE reality series "Tough Enough" will be returning to television on USA Network.

"I am pleased to announce that USA is bringing back 'Tough Enough,' the action-packed competition reality show from the ratings juggernaut, WWE," McCumber said in a speech today during the Television Critics Association winter press tour. "The show will have a completely new format, with live elements that will truly make this event television."

McCumber continued, "After signing another multi-year deal for Raw and SmackDown, this is the perfect time to bring back the series and capitalize on the enormous audience appeal of sports-entertainment."

USA Bringing Back Tough Enough

At today's Critics Association winter press tour event in Los Angeles, USA Network president Chris McCumber announced that WWE Tough Enough, which aired on MTV from 2001-2003 and on USA in 2011 with host "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in 2011, would be making its return to the network according to a report by Mike Johnson. McCumber noted that the show would be under a new format that would bring new live and interactive elements. Tough Enough had been in discussion to return last year on the WWE Network, but budget cuts made by WWE last year held off the return. WWE has yet to make an official announcement on the return of Tough Enough to the USA Network as of this writing.

Opinionated View- FUCK not tough enough. It's a boring show. I was hoping it was finally dead for good after they didn't have enough money to do it on the Network but I guess the managed to fool USA network.
