Prince Devitt's WWE NXT Name Revealed

Fergal Devitt (aka Prince Devitt) will go by the new name Finn Balor when he makes his official WWE NXT debut according to a report by Mike Johnson. NXT has television tapings later tonight (9/25) in Winter Park, Florida at Full Sail University. Devitt is expected to debut.

WWE will allow Prince Devitt to work under his real first name (Fergal) in NXT, but they may change it before he comes to the main roster. WWE likes to own the rights to their talent's ring names.

WWE Officially Signs Prince Devitt

WWE.com has a new article up where they officially announce the signing of international star Fergal "Prince" Devitt to a contract. In the article, it mentions that Devitt will begin work at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando as of today (7/28). Devitt is most known for his time in New Japan Pro Wrestling, winning the IWGP Junior Heavyweight & Tag Team Titles multiple times, as well as the annual Best of the Super Juniors tournament multiple times and creating the popular "Bullet Club" faction that is still a part of New Japan today. 

Devitt on the signing: "This is something I've been looking forward to since I was maybe four or five years old. I grew up watching wrestling my whole life, so to get the chance to step in the ring that I've watched on TV so many times is a dream come true."

Opinionated View- Fingers are crossed lets see if WWE lets Devitt be the awesome wrestler he can be or if they will turn him into the typical generic WWE wrestler.

Updates on the WWE Statuses of KENTA, Prince Devitt, Willie Mack & Kevin Steen

- Willie Mack and Kevin Steen are currently going through the WWE background check. Once that is complete, they will then be scheduled to go their medical testing. And once that is complete, and if they have passed, they will then officially be offered their deal from the company. 

- At this time, KENTA, Prince Devitt and Kevin Steen are expected to be coming to Orlando in August. There could be delays between work VIASA, medicals, or other issues that sometimes pop up during the process.

Prince Devitt Update – Is He Finally Heading to WWE Developmental?

- It appears that Prince Devitt has signed with WWE. At this time, he is expected to begin his WWE Developmental training in August. Those who worked with Devitt in Japan expected him to sign with WWE since the fall. 

Opinionated View- I'm worried. The guy is a great talent but I had a feeling WWE is going to screw up and book him poorly.

- The current belief is that KENTA will go to WWE but nothing will be announced until he finishes with NOAH. He's showing respect to the promotion who "put him on the map". 

- Prince Devitt has finished with New Japan and WWE has had a standing offer to him for a long time. It's still possible that Devitt could end up joining the company and it's not a "dead issue" yet.

Prince Devitt has still not signed with WWE. There is talk that TNA will attempt to sign him if he is still a free agent in the upcoming weeks.

Prince Devitt Comments on His Future in Wrestling

Last night at the Insane Championship Wrestling show Still Smokin', a match for the Zero-G Championship was supposed to take place between champion Mark Coffey and Solar. Mark Coffey informed everybody that Solar was too injured for the match to take place and made an open challenge to anybody on the roster. Prince Devitt (who was unannounced for the event) answered the challenge and beat Coffey to become the new ICW Zero-G Champion.

After the match, Devitt went on the microphone to inform everybody that there have been a lot of rumors about him recently, and whether he was going to WWE or TNA, but announced that he is now going to be a regular member of the ICW Roster.

So it would currently seem to appear that Devitt will be returning to the UK when his time in Japan comes to an end. Whether it's for a short while before moving on to bigger things elsewhere or a more permanent decision is unknown

Opinionated View- Well that's a twist. He could still wind up with WWE or TNA this could be some kind goodbye tour over in the UK and Ireland.

- NJPW has a Loser Leaves Town match set between Prince Devitt and Ryusuke Taguchi for this coming weekend. As previously reported, WWE has extended a standing offer for Devitt to sign with them, so he may be coming on board.

Opinionated View- Devitt is a great talent hell you could make an argument he is one of the ten best best in the world. So hopefully WWE will take advantage of getting him but this is WWE so I don't have faith.

Update on Prince Devitt Possibly Coming to WWE

- While Prince Devitt has reportedly not made a final decision, those close to him feel that he will not sign with WWE, and instead will stay with New Japan Pro Wrestling. 

It is being reported that WWE offered Devitt a deal that stated he would only spend a "limited amount of time" in NXT before heading to the main roster. 

Opinionated View- And why should he spend any time in NXT? So he can have guys like Bill DeMott tell him he doesn't "Main Event Style"? So his name can be changed? So he can lose money and hope maybe someday he can get called up and pushed? 

Update on Prince Devitt Possibly Signing With WWE

WWE has made an offer to New Japan star Prince Devitt. At this time, the feeling is that Devitt will make his choice following the next set of NJPW shows. His contract with New Japan is up, and it is coming down to him making the decision to stay where he is or to move on and sign with WWE. Triple H has wanted to sign Devitt after being shown a tape of Devitt vs. Pac in New Japan from several years ago. Pac was signed almost immediately, and now works in NXT as Adrian Neville. 

Devitt was scheduled to win the Wrestling.ie championship at an American Wrestling Roadshow event. A press release announcing the change described him as "WWE-bound". Of course Devitt was backstage at yesterday's TNA show in Dublin.

Update on Prince Devitt, Going to TNA over WWE?

In an interesting update New Japan Star Prince Devitt is at the TNA show in Ireland. Earlier today reports had it that Devitt was in talks with WWE. Now of course he could be visiting but the fact he is tweeting at Dixie Carter could mean something more. 

Opinionated View- Well I would prefer Devitt in TNA. I think WWE would stick him in NXT and bring him up with a dumb name and gimmick. TNA he could jump right into a big feud with someone like Aries.

The Latest on Price Devitt Negotiating With WWE

- At this time, WWE and Prince Devitt are currently still negotiating a potential deal. Negotiations have been ongoing for a few months, with WWE making an official offer to the Devitt, which has not been accepted. Potential hold ups on Devitt's side include the fact that he is booked as a top star in New Japan, and that he would have to relocate from his home in Ireland to the US. 

Opinionated View- Devitt is an amazing talent. But if he does sign with the WWE I don't see them using him well.

Latest Rumors on Prince Devitt Going to the WWE

While there have been rumors that New Japan Pro Wrestling star Prince Devitt would be heading to WWE, no formal offer has been made to Devitt at this time. Devitt's New Japan contract expires on January 31st, but at this time, most feel that he will remain with New Japan for another year.

Prince Devitt is currently in talks to join WWE. He recently tweeted about looking for new members of his stable and used photoshop to add CM Punk to a photo. It was done to create buzz and joke with his fans. However, the negotiations are serious and he is expected to come to a deal. Both parties are interested in working together. 

Opinionated View- Devitt is an awesome talent I would love to see him face Daniel Bryan or CM Punk or Dean Amborse. But I always have the concern of will WWE use them right?

At today's NJPW Kizuna Road iPPV in Korakuen Hall, the competitors for the 2013 G1 Climax were announced. The G1 Climax starts on August 1 and goes until August 11 where the finals will take place at Sumo Hall in Tokyo.
