ROH News: Three matches added to the 12th Anniversary Show lineup

Ring of Honor added the following matches to the 12th Anniversary Show, which takes place on Saturday in Philadelphia, Pa.

-Kevin Steen vs. Cliff Compton in a Philly Street Fight.

-Silas Young vs. Matt Taven.

-Roderick Strong, B.J. Whitmer, and Jimmy Jacobs vs. Mark Briscoe, Adam Page, and Cedric Alexander in a six-man tag.

BJ Whitmer to address his future

BJ Whitmer, whose neck was injured in a piledriver on the apron on August 3, will appear at ROH's Death Before Dishonor XI on September 20 to address his future. You can read the announcement at http://www.rohwrestling.com/news/bj-whitmer-update.

Opinionated View- Last I heard BJ had the same condition that caused Edge to retire. And my honestly opinion (and I stress opinion) is he should retire. I don't think risk to his health would worth it. I would hope a guy like BJ that has given a lot to various Indy companies could get a chance in some kind of backstage role if he would want it.

Health Update on BJ Whitmer

BJ Whitmer has suffered a bruised spinal cord and was also diagnosed with spinal stenosis. Spinal stenosis is the condition that ended the career of Edge. Whitmer is scheduled for additional medical examinations in the upcoming weeks.

Health Update on BJ Whitmer

BJ Whitmer met with his doctor to get the results of his recent MRI. Whitmer noted that he did not like what he heard, and would be seeking a second opinion. Whitmer suffered a herniated disc taking a piledriver on the apron during a ROH event in Toronto earlier in the month.

Ruling regarding the outcome of the ROH Title tournament match involving BJ Whitmer and Michael Bennett

Ring of Honor has announced that Michael Bennett is advancing in the ROH Title tournament. His first-round match with B.J. Whitmer came to an unplanned end when Whitmer suffered a neck injury and was taken to the hospital.  The storyline is that matchmaker Nigel McGuinness determined that Bennett advances because he was the last man standing. Bennett will face Tommaso Ciampa on August 17.

Two Updates on the Health of BJ Whitmer

BJ Whitmer has full use of his arms and legs, but will remain in a Toronto hospital until at least Monday for further evaluation. Whitmer was injured at the ROH show in Toronto when he took a piledriver on the ring apron. ROH is updating his status via their Twitter page, @RingOfHonor.

BJ Whitmer's CAT scan was negative for broken vertebrae, meaning he could be released from the hospital as early as today. According to one source, Whitmer is in good spirits and has been out of the hospital bed under his own power.

Ring of Honor issued a brief statement on the company website regarding the health status of B.J. Whitmer, who suffered a neck injury during a match against Mike Bennett on Saturday in Toronto. B.J. Whitmer suffers a potentially serious injury

B.J. Whitmer appeared to suffer a serious injury during a match against Michael Bennett at the Ring of Honor event in Toronto. Dot Net reader Justin Tetreault reports: "BJ Whitmer just got taken out on a stretcher after taking a piledriver on the edge of the ring. They abruptly stopped the match and he got medical attention for a good 15 minutes. A few wrestlers (Brian Kendrick and Jay Lethal) came out looking really worried. It didn't look like a work to me. They shut all the cameras off and were scrambling around trying to find the best way to take the stretcher out. Then they made an announcement that he was going to get medical attention and they would update us."

Dot Net reader Mike Beauvais is also in attendance and passed along the following: "BJ Whitmer appears to have been seriously injured during a match with Michael Bennett. Bennett hit a piledriver on the apron. Backstage crew, wrestlers and medical professionals have attended to Whitmer and he's been stretchered out. Scary stuff." Pro wrestling reporter Arda Ocal is at the event and noted on his Twitter page that security prevented fans from walking into the hallway as Whitmer was being treated. "B.J. Opinionated View- Fingers are crossed for BJ the guy has dealt with his share of injures over the years. Hopefully he will be ok and just took a stinger or just needed some time to recover.

Two More Names Set For ROH World Title Tournament

Sonjay Dutt is the eighth competitor and BJ Whitmer is the ninth competitor announced for the 16-man ROH Title tournament. He joins Michael Elgin, Brian Kendrick, Karl Anderson, Kevin Steen, Paul London, Roderick Strong, Sonjay Dutt and Adam Cole. The single elimination tournament begins on July 27 in Providence, Rhode Island and will conclude in Philadelphia, Pa. at Death Before Dishonor XI.
