#BreakingNews: August 6 in NYC, it's Wolves vs Hardys vs Team 3D!!! Get your tickets now! http://www.impactwrestling.com/live-events

WWE Ending WWE Magazine Soon

The last issue of WWE Magazine produced by the company itself will be in October. The Magazine will have been in operation for thirty years; it first began as WWE Victory Magazine in 1984.

There is still the possibility that another publisher will pick up the magazine, with WWE licensing the magazine name to them. This probably isn't that surprising of news as print media has been dwindling down in many forms over the past several years, from magazines to newspapers.

Opinionated View- There was still a WWE Magazine?

AAA Triplemania XXII Airing on IPPV

Mexican promotion AAA issued the following press release today:
Triplemania XXII will be on PPV and iPPV
Mexico City, July 31st, 2014 - The biggest event in Mexican wrestling, Triplemanía XXII, is just around the corner; and this is the moment when AAA's biggest rivalries reach their climax! On August 17th at 18:00 CT, Arena Ciudad de Mexico will be at its capacity, buzzing with emotions, with fans eager for a unique experience never before seen in any venue within Mexico.
This year, in order to accommodate the millions of AAA and Lucha Libre fans around the world, AAA will make Triplemanía XXII available on Pay-Per-View via SKY within Mexico in both SD and HD formats, as well as via internet-Pay-Per-View for fans around the world. IPPV is available for pre-order now by visiting www.luchalibreaaa.com.
With Triplemanía XXII being the seventh edition of their largest annual event to be broadcast via PPV on SKY which also broadcasts major company events such as Rey de Reyes and Guerra de Titanes, AAA arguably remains the most successful Mexican Lucha Libre promotion with PPV presence in the world.
AAA's first PPV was the historic and very successful event, When Worlds Collide, held live in front of over 13,000 screaming fans on November 6, 1994 in Los Angeles, California. At that event, Eddie Guerrero and Love Machine had their heads shaved after losing their Hair vs Hair match, and El Perro Aguayo defeated the legendary Konnan in a bloody steel cage fight. The event was also highlighted by the participation of Chris Benoit, 2 Cold Scorpio, Tito Santana, WWE Superstar Rey Misterio Jr (Rey Mysterio in WWE), and many others.
Now, 20 years later, AAA brings the world another historic "must see" event with Triplemanía XXII. Don't miss this opportunity to witness history in the making as enemies collide, stars are born, and legends rise!

Ric Flair Received Negative Reaction For His Referee Job At Live Events

As previously reported, Randy Orton had some heat on him for his "crowd killing" style in matches against Roman Reigns at live events. Now it seems as though Ric Flair, who worked as a referee in some of those matches, also received a negative reaction.

Flair was criticized for hanging out on the ropes and not being close enough to the action. It's also believed that he was slow when getting down to count for pin attempts.

Opinionated View- So Ric Flair was at a show and acted like an idiot and was no doubt just killing time before getting drunk. Least shocking News ever!

WWE To Cut 7 Percent of Staff

For those who missed it buried in the conference call report and flurry of WWE financial posts, Vince McMahon confirmed during WWE's conference call today that the company will be cutting 7% of its staff.

- The staff layoffs in WWE have already started in Stamford. WWE announced earlier today that 7% of their staff will be fired

Opinionated View- Sadly though the cuts will not be to people like Big Show, Flair, Hogan, Kane, Mark Henry or Lesnar. Instead this will be the average joe.

How Did WWE Stars React To The WrestleMania 30 Payoffs?

The checks for WrestleMania XXX were sent to talent this week and everyone should have received them within the past few days. The word is that the payoffs were better than what most were afraid of, but close to what everyone expected. The talent was originally worried that because of the WWE Network and how that might affect PPV bonuses (along with video game royalties being lower than expected). They were expecting the WrestleMania checks to be lower than they were.

Update on Ricardo Rodriguez Being Released From WWE

As we previously reported, Ricardo Rodriguez was released yesterday from WWE. The word on why Ricardo left was because WWE didn't have a role for him at the moment. Rodriguez was previously announcing with the Spanish commentary team and working in NXT as El Local. The feeling backstage is that they didn't need him for Spanish broadcasts and his size hurt him when it came to being used as a wrestler.

* Noted that the WWE Network will launch on some Smart TVs & blu-ray players later in 2014 and also add a "Resume Play" feature.
Caller portion
1. Will the new pricing directives help grow the WWE Network month-to-month?
McMahon said they are learning as they grow and there are many aspects to growing the WWE Network.
2. Why did they decide to go global early on with the WWE Network?
* McMahon said that they did the English version of the WWE Network first because it allows them to go worldwide faster. They may add language-specific version at some point, but it will be the US version for now.
3. What about the 128,000 churn in subscriptions for the WWE Network?
* Barrios said that any subscription business has churn, its part of managing the business. Renewal churn has yet to start, the churn this time was due to credit/debit cards not having sufficent funds when WWE tried to charge them.
4. How will they save the $30 million loss?
* Barrios said they brought in a lot of people at the launch of the WWE Network, so there was inefficency. Its now more streamlined.
5. Did the churn in subscriptions happen after Wrestlemania 30?
* Barrios gave a vague response to the question.
6. How will WWE plan to get people to renew to the Network in September when the six-month committment expires?
* Barrios said they will try and drive awareness to the Network.
7. When does WWE see people subscribe the most?
* Barrios said when there are PPVs.
8. Why did WWE decide to make the Network a Pay TV channel in Canada?
* McMahon said Rogers made them an offer they couldn't turn down and he doesn't know if WWE will do this format anywhere else in the world.
9. Does the outlook WWE has for business in 2015 based off the assumption that there will be no PPV revenue?
* McMahon said it is.
10. Is WWE concerned that subscribers will stop doing the six-month committment for the WWE Network and just go month-to-month occasionally?
* McMahon said they will learn as they go and there is a possibility that there may be new pricing options.
11. Is WWE still targeting 1 million domestic subscriptions for the WWE Network?
* McMahon said they would be very happy if that transpired.
12. Does Rogers Communications have the ability to embed advertising into the WWE Network stream?
* Barrios said they are working on it and it will eventually be built in.
13. What is the status of the TV rights deal in India?
* Barrios said it is being finalized now and they have agreed to terms, but won't comment on its value right now.
14. How many TV rights deals overseas are coming due?
* Barrios said they don't comment on that.
15. Will Rogers subscriptions be counted with the overall WWE Network subscription total?
* Barrios said it will.
16. How many of the new countries that will be getting the WWE Network soon did not have access to PPVs before?
* Barrios said a lot of them.
That ended the conference call.

Buyrates for Extreme Rules, Payback, and Money in the Bank

WWE released the buyrate numbers for the Extreme Rules, Payback and Money in the Bank PPVs.
* WWE Extreme Rules (5/4/14, headlined by WWE World Champion Daniel Bryan vs. Kane) -108,000 buys (down from 231,000 buys in 2013)
* WWE Payback (6/1/14, headlined by the Shield vs. Evolution in an Elimination Match) - 67,000 buys (down from 186,000 buys in 2013)
* WWE Money in the Bank (6/29/14, headlined by the Money in the Bank Ladder Match for the vacant WWE World Title) - 122,000 buys
Also, prior event buys of PPVs before July 2014 did 72,000 buys, up from 95,000 buys in the second quarter of 2013.
Opinionated View- Well things to keep in mind. Anyone that has the network isn't going to buy a PPV. Several carries dropped WWE PPV's after the network launched. That said these numbers are still terrible. It doesn't shock me though WWE did awful jobs building up to all three PPV's.

Latest WWE Network subscriber count revealed

WWE announced the latest WWE Network subscriber count as 700,000. The number is up from the 667,000 subscribers the network had on April 7 (the day after WrestleMania 30). WWE also announced that they plan to take WWE Network worldwide on August 12. The company will also launch the network on several smart televisions and blu-ray players in mid-August.

WWE's financial report is boasting that they added 161,000 new subscribers since April 6, which would mean they lost 128,000 subscribers.

Opinionated View- I am going to assume if only 667,000 was a disappointment in april only get up 700,000 is still a disappointment. Will they add more numbers when they go world wide yes but will that mean the network is taking off? No it just means the numbers are inflated form over seas.

NJPW Cancels Event Set for Same Day and Venue as TNA Bound for Glory

Originally, NJPW was planning to run a show the same day and in the same building as TNA's Bound for Glory PPV event, which is scheduled for Japan at the Korakuen Hall on October 12. However, New Japan has now pulled the show, so TNA would be able to run its event at any point during the day in the venue.

Why Did Chris Hero Decide Against Signing a Deal with ROH?

- F4WOnline reports that despite making a few appearances for ROH after his WWE release, Chris Hero did not want to be locked down with a contract that would limit him from certain indie appearances. Hero's last match for the promotion was on March 8 against Adam Cole.

Its to bad because ROH could really use Hero. He's a great talent

ROH May Not Be Option For TNA Talent

- The Wrestling Observer released a report on what could happen to the TNA roster if Impact Wrestling shuts down and TNA closes its doors. Per the report, ROH's full-time roster is said to be packed right now, and there is not much room for additional talent. Samoa Joe and Eddie Edwards would be given dates if they wanted them, but ROH is already having trouble booking the talent they already have.

Yet Another Reason no one should celebrate if TNA closes.

Update on the AAA US Based TV Show

AAA's series on The El Rey Network will begin taping in late August, PWInsider.com has confirmed. The original taping dates began on 8/24, but we've heard it may have been pushed back a few days. The series will film in Los Angeles.
Former New Japan and ROH star Ricky Reyes, who was on WWE's radar, has signed for the series. I've heard several former WWE names have signed or are in the process of finalizing deals for the series. Once we confirm those names, we'll post.
Former WWE creative team member Chris DeJoseph is working on the series in a producer's role.
There has been a lot of talk about the series, which is scheduled for an eight episode first season this Fall on El Rey, with some of the pitches for it being really "far out" in comparison to traditional wrestling TV. Once the series starts taping, we'll see what form it actually takes.

TNA Wrestling Signs American War Hero Chris Melendez to Multi-Year Agreement

TNA Wrestling is happy to announce the signing of a true American hero! Chris Melendez is a former Army Sergeant, who served his country in Afghanistan and was awarded a Purple Heart. Because of injuries suffered in combat, the brave soldier returned home a single leg amputee. Melendez, a member of the Wounded Warrior Project, had another dream to realize when he returned home. He dreamed of becoming a pro wrestler.
Chris’ remarkable story begins as a kid growing up in Spanish Harlem. His grandmother introduced him to professional wrestling at a young age and, ever since, he has been hooked.
“The ability to captivate an audience without having to say any words is what got me hooked.”
Inspired by his father, a Vietnam Vet, and compelled by the events of September 11, Chris joined the U.S. Army at the young age of 17. At age 19, and with only 23 days of his Iraq deployment remaining, he sustained horrifying life-threatening injuries from an IED.
“When I was able to open my eyes after the explosion I looked across the battlefield to see what I thought was a fellow-soldier in need of help. I quickly realized it was my leg.”
After being resuscitated three times and enduring numerous emergency surgeries and procedures, Melendez’s long road of recovery took him to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. Through pure grit and determination, cutting edge science and technology delivered via the VA, and support from friends, family and The Wounded Warrior Project, Melendez was walking with a prosthetic within 40 days.
In 2012, Melendez entered Team 3D Academy of Professional Wrestling in Florida where he trained day-in and day-out under the tutelage of Bully Ray and Devon. Now, TNA Wrestling can announce the signing of Chris Melendez to a multi-year contract.
Still known in the locker room as “Sarge”, Melendez is set to make his debut for the company during the August 5-7 tapings at New York City’s legendary Manhattan Center.
Opinionated View- This a really cool story. Good for TNA.

Ricardo Rodriguez Cut From WWE

Ricardo Rodriguez posted the following on Twitter:

I have come to terms with WWE on my release. I want to thank them for a great 4 years. But I miss wrestling

Ricardo was signed by WWE in 2010 and is most known as Alberto Del Rio's ring announcer from Del Rio's WWE debut in 2010 until 2013. Rodriguez also wrestled as the masked El Local on WWE & NXT TV, last teaming with Kalisto on the NXT Takeover live special in May 2014, losing to NXT Tag Team Champions The Ascension.
WWE has confirmed the release of Rodriguez on WWE.com with the following:
WWE has come to terms on the release of WWE Superstar Ricardo Rodriguez as of today, July 30, 2014. WWE wishes Ricardo Rodriguez the best in all of his future endeavors.
Opinionated View- FIrst of many to come if the numbers for the network are as bad as I think.

WWE Making More Budget Cuts: Layoffs Coming

WWE is expected to announce mass layoffs tomorrow after they report their earnings for the second quarter, along with the WWE Network subscriber numbers. The number going around is that ten percent of the WWE staff will be let go. This could be due to the performance of the WWE Network. Usually when a company reports lower than expected numbers they announce layoffs to prevent Wall Street from selling off the stock.

- At the moment, WWE stock is trading at $12.05, down 42 cents.

WWE is reportedly making a budget cut move that will affect independent wrestlers.

The site reports that WWE has reduced the standard day of pay to independent workers who appear as extras for television from $200 to $100. WWE often selects several local independent performers to be extras on the various TV shows as backstage extras, Rosebuds and other roles. If they are used in a match or a more physically demanding role, the pay is usually more. Word is that pay grade may also be reduced.

This reports follows the stories from earlier this week, claiming that WWE was looking to make more budget cuts before revealing tomorrow's Q2 earnings report. After the reveal of the WWE Network subscriber numbers (667,000) and the reality that WWE would not be meeting financial projections, there were reports that the company was looking to cut upwards of $20 million from their budget.

Opinionated View- Remember my theory about the Spike and TNA rumors being a distraction so the IWC can ignore all this from the WWE. Well look above there is no way to spin this in a good way. WWE is in the red the network has been an EPIC FAIL!

ROH champions re-sign

ROH has announced via ROHWrestling.com that the ROH Tag Tam Champions, Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly of Red Dragon, have re-signed with the company.

Opinionated View- I think that's a mistake. Now this is just speculation on my part I wonder if rumors about TNA and Spike contributed to them staying with ROH.

7/29 WWE Main Event Report

We are in Corpus Christi, Texas and your announcers are Byron ‘Early Morning Flights out of Connecticut on a Tuesday are fun’ Saxton and Tom ‘Southwest Championship Wrestling’ Phillips.
Dean Ambrose makes his way to the ring to talk to the people in Corpus Christi. We see footage from his match against Cesaro last week on Smackdown.

Dean says that he is back and he is in a foul mood. He is fresh off his ‘promotional tour’ last night. Shaking hands and kissing babies is not his thing, but it is a way for the Authority to keep him away from their precious darling Seth Rollins.

Dean tells Seth to finally do what is best for business and that is get his teeth knocked down his throat in the ring. Dean says that Seth won’t do it because he doesn’t have any guts.

Does Seth want to hide behind closed doors eating protein bars with Triple H or does he want to come out here right now?

No one comes out so Dean takes a seat in the center of the ring. He says that Seth is going to hide behind Kane and hold Triple H’s hand. Dean says that he will go through everyone the Authority puts in front of him until he gets to Seth. Then he will teach Seth a lesson about selling out.

Alberto Del Rio makes his way to the stage. He wants to know what exactly is Dean supposed to be. Is he a rat or a dog? He looks like a bum who came out of a dumpster. He needs to stop worrying about Seth Rollins and start worrying about Alberto Del Rio. Alberto says that he is not afraid. He is a former World Champion.

Fear is being put in the cross arm breaker and wondering if Alberto will show him mercy.

Alberto gets into the ring and he gets in Dean’s face. Alberto tells Dean that every show starts with a kickoff. Does Dean want to start this now? Dean’s shoulder is wrapped like a present for him. Alberto says that he will take Dean’s arm home with him as a trophy. Alberto kicks Dean in the injured arm and then he leaves the ring.

Tom and Byron talk about John Cena’s reaction on last night’s Raw and we see the footage.

The Usos walk in the back as we go to commercial.

The TNA IMPACT Spike TV Rumors

TNA Reportedly Tells Talent Not To Believe Spike TV Rumors

- TNA officials have reportedly told the talent that the rumors that Spike TV canceled Impact are not true. TNA's acting the same now as when the sale rumors began last year. They emailed the wrestlers to tell them not to worry about the rumors. They are expecting good news and will update the roster when they know more

Opinionated View- That is another good sign. And I remind everyone those sale rumors all turned out to be BS remember Viacom, Billy Corgan, Toby Keith and other were all listed as buying it.
